Story
Delilah is an adorable, shy 18 lb. 7 year old cairn terrier. She spent the first part of her life having babies as a backyard breeding dog in WV. Her days of having pups are now over, and she is ready to find a forever home where she will be loved and cherished the rest of her life. Delilah isn't quite sure what being a dog means. She's not sure what grass is for, and will need time to learn that going outside is a good thing. She will need patience as she learns to potty outside, that an outstretched hand doesn't mean she needs to duck, or someone walking nearby doesn't mean she has to scramble to get out of the way. Delilah will need another confident dog in the home to teach her how to dog. She is fearful, and would likely do best in a home without young children running around. She needs a fenced yard, as she is too shy to potty while her humans are watching, and to give her time to explore and acclimate to her environment. She will take some time to come around, but when she does, she has so much love to give. She loves treats, and gives cute little hops and a smile when it is time to eat. She likes to have a toy or two to chew on. If you have blankets or socks lying around, she may just abscond with them, and they may end up with a lovingly chewed hole or two. Delilah has done well with the other dogs in the home and ignores the cats. She hasn't figured out that the couch is a good place to be, and seems to prefer the dog beds. She sleeps quietly in her crate overnight. Her life hasn't been easy, but it's about to get a whole lot brighter. Could you be the one to give this girl her happily ever after? Delilah is available for adoption now through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144, KL #16182 and is being fostered in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
