Story
Sweet Ellie was recently returned to us because her  family of 10 years were moving and sadly could not take her with them.&#239&#191&#188 Another Heartland kitty, Ember, was returned with her but she is not quite ready for adoption yet and is still decompressing from the stress of losing her home.  While the girls got along fine, they are not bonded and do not need to be adopted together.&#239&#191&#188&#239&#191&#188&#239&#191&#188 Ellie is the epitome of a love bug. She wants nothing more than to be with her humans getting all the petting and attention that they are willing to give her. &#239&#191&#188 She will roll around on her back begging for tummy rubs and is quite the vocal little lady.&#239&#191&#188 She’s past the obnoxious kitten phase and is the perfect mix of laid-back and snuggly. She would make the perfect companion for an older person but she pretty much loves every &#239&#191&#188person she meets.&#239&#191&#188&#239&#191&#188&#239&#191&#188 Ellie does not care too much for the other foster kitties in the house, so I think she would do best as an only pet or be adopted out with her friend, Ember. She would be just fine during the day by herself while her humans are at work, &#239&#191&#188&#239&#191&#188but will happily soak up love from her family when they are home. Since Ellie is a little bit older (12.5 years old to be exact)&#239&#191&#188, we did senior bloodwork and confirmed that she is hyperthyroid. However, &#239&#191&#188she can still live many good years and just requires oral medication twice a day to manage it, which she takes like a champ.&#239&#191&#188 We are also going to get her a dental cleaning and she will then be ready for adoption. Older cats are truly the best and make the perfect companions since they tend to be more mannerly and laid-back. Ellie is no exception. If you’re in the market for a gentle, sweet and affectionate kitty, look no further because she is your girl!  &#239&#191&#188June 2, 2023, 9:42 pm

Story
Ember is a beautiful calico/tabby with stunning striped markings and an adorable round face.  The poor girl has been through a lot recently.  She was adopted out as a young adult 10 years ago along with another Heartland kitty, Ellie.  These two became fast friends and were happy living life with their dad until one day, he had to move and could no longer keep them.  His son took the girls and they stayed with him for a while, but he also ended up moving and was unable to keep them.  Back to Heartland they came, and while Ellie had an easy time acclimating, poor Ember had a very rough time.  I could not touch her for the first 10 days because she was so traumatized and stressed at the disruption in her routine and home life.  Then one day she allowed me to pet her head and chin and she melted and started to purr.   Ember has built a trust with me now and she enjoys petting and attention on her own terms.  She is not fond of being touched on her back near her tail, but scratch her head, neck, chin and ears and she's a happy girl.  She has a deep rumbly purr and it immediately goes on as soon as I pet her.  She will lean into my hand to show me when she's very happy, and will give verbal cues (growls) when she's had enough attention.  However, she has never tried to bite me but will swat on occasion.  She is an independent girl who likes to hang out on her comfy bed and watch the world go by.  She has very good litter box manners and is pretty quiet and easy.   Ember is a plump kitty and was not given the best diet in her previous home, so she does need to lose a few pounds to get back to a healthy weight.  She LOVES canned food which is great for a kitty in her dietary situation, plus it's a helpful way to build a rapport with her.  She does seem to prefer women to men and she will need time and patience to settle in to a new home, preferably one that is quiet, calm and has a cat savvy owner(s) without kids.  Surprisingly, she doesn't mind other cats and is good with them as long as they respect her space and do not try to play with her.  It would be great if she and Ellie could be adopted together, but they aren't bonded and can be split up if necessary.  Not sure about dogs, but a calm, cat-friendly pooch might be okay.   Ember is spayed, recently had a dental with a few teeth extractions, senior bloodwork (all good), is microchipped, current on vaccinations, and negative for FeLV/FIV - DOB 8/4/2011 (tag 7786JB).June 2, 2023, 9:42 pm

Story
Punkin is a very lovable cat. My daughter’s allergies are worse now so we need to find a new home for her. Punkin was adopted from a shelter in Las Vegas in 2007. She was born in March of 2007. I am looking for a good home for her as she is an older cat, but it still in great health and is very spry! She is a completely indoor cat and declawed in her front paws.
