Story
Dog Name: Denali. Breed: Catahoula/Pit mix. Sex: Female. Age: Soon to be 6. Weight: 76lbs. Medical needs: None. Housebroken: Yes, she alerts at the door. Crate trained: Yes. She goes in without issue and gets a treat. Sleeps quietly and sometimes retreats to it for a nap. Good in the car: Yes. She’d prefer to be your co-pilot though. Good on a leash: Denali is very strong! She is currently walked on a martingale collar. This prevents her neck from being harmed should she decide to pull. If she smells or sees something of particular interest, her instinct is to dig in and pull. She is pretty easily redirected, overall she walks pretty well. Energy level: Medium. Denali enjoys a good game of fetch and will also entertain herself with toys or bones. If she’s walked regularly and has time to play, the rest of the time will be spent snoring away. Need a fenced in yard: No but she’d LOVE it. She loves to be outside, so you should plan to spend some time with her on a leash — walking, exploring and playing if no fence. Dog Friendly: Dog selective. Denali is a bit nervous and insecure at first so she requires a slow introduction. In other words, she shouldn’t be forced to interact with any dogs immediately and may require space and time to observe before meeting. She does best with dogs her size or bigger because she does think she should be the CEO. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home: No, she would love to have you all to herself. Cat friendly: No. Kid Friendly: Yes. If yes, what's the youngest age: She had exposure to a range of ages in her previous home and foster home. I have not observed her with any small children but feel comfortable saying 10+ due to her size. Traits that make your foster special: What can I say? This girl is gorgeous even with her seasonal flank alopecia imperfections — just makes her that much more special. Denali is a total love bug when she’s comfortable with you. She just wants alllllll the loving. She will usually plop herself in front of you and put her head in your lap and request some pets or she will plop ON you and request them as well. She is also quite the silly goose, her personality is very fun! Denali was previously adopted but was returned to GRR. Her owner experienced an unexpected medical emergency and was no longer able to care for her. When she first came to her previous foster home she was reserved and nervous. Her tail didn’t move much and though she sought them out for love, it took her about 10 days to fully relax and show them her whole, silly personality. When Denali came to us (her current foster family) she was nothing but love and her true self right off the jump! It was a great transition from one foster family to another. If you can imagine a happy, little hippo, then you get the picture. Denali can be found zooming around the yard, playing ball (she is a ball fanatic!), taking a sniffari or lounging around the house just relaxing. As stated she LOVES to be outside and would love to show you her cool jump moves! This big girl has some hops! She’s settled in quite nicely and now it’s time for her take the next big step and find her fur-ever home. If you’re looking for a companion that will motivate you to get outside then reward yourself with a little Netflix and chill, Denali is your girl.  FYI: Denali WILL require multiple meets not just with the pups in your household but also with you if you are interested in adopting. She is not for the faint of heart (at first), it takes her some time to warm up to new people but once you’re in, she’s all love. She is also not the kind of girl you can show off to your friends — she prefers to social distance. So if you have a lot of guests over constantly and wanna trophy to show off — she’s not your girl. If you have guests over, that is fine but she will prefer to be in her safe space. Please respect the princesses wishes. Foster’s Location: New Castle, DE. Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app) ##1697475##

Story
ABOUT KISSY FACE With a name like Kissy Face, you have to know this boy's an absolute love! Kissy Face came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they no longer had space for him. As his name suggests, Kissy loves to cover your face in kisses! At just over a year old, he’s full of energy and curiosity and is always ready for a new adventure. Kissy is a very social boy with both people and dogs. He’s made several dog friends and would be a great addition to a home with existing pups. He absolutely adores his people and makes quick work of hopping up to shower you with affection. He loves his toys and treats, and honestly, there isn’t much this boy doesn’t enjoy! Kissy Face is one of the biggest lovebugs you’ll ever meet, so stop by today and get some kisses from Kissy Face! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
We now have two Diamonds in our care - because some dogs really are that precious. (If you're using our app, be sure to match her with the correct ID number.)Diamond came to us through animal control after being found living outdoors. Her previous owners or caretakers never came forward or took the steps needed to bring her home. We're not upset - we know this gentle girl has a far better future waiting for her with someone who truly sees her worth.A Petite, Polite CompanionDiamond weighs just 35 pounds and carries herself with sweet, quiet manners. She walks beautifully on leash, is gentle with handling, and is often calm and quiet in her kennel. Honestly, she's one of the easiest dogs we have right now.Gets Along With EveryoneShe arrived with another dog and did wellShe doesn't seem bothered by catsShe loves every person she's met so farIf you're looking for a friendly, adaptable companion, she's your girl.Healthy, Vaccinated & Scheduled for SpayDiamond is fully up to date on vaccines and will be scheduled for her spay surgery.Special Needs: Heartworm Positive - But Don't WorryDiamond is listed as special needs because she is heartworm positive, but we will be treating this, and it should not deter you from adopting her. Heartworm is not contagious to other animals, and we're happy to answer any questions about the treatment process. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Merle Weight: 35.2 Age: 3yrs 0mths 3wks
