Story
✨ Meet Carmen! ✨Carmen is a 56-pound Catahoula with a heart full of love and a little dash of bashfulness. She can be nervous at first, but give her a moment, and she warms up quickly-then she's all smiles, tail wags, and maybe even trying to sneak into your lap (yes, she thinks she's a lap dog!). Carmen adores people, gets along well with other dogs, and is happiest when she's sharing cuddles or hanging out with her favorite humans. She's the perfect mix of shy-then-sweet, and once she's comfy, she'll charm her way right into your heart. 💕 Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Blue Merle Weight: 53.125 Age: 2yrs 0mths 3wks I am available for adoption at the Pocatello Animal Shelter.

Story
Roux is a female 3 year old Catahoula leopard. She is a beautiful dog. She has a lot of energy and is playful. She loves playing in the water and playing with her toys. She loves to cuddle and has always slept on our bed. She likes to hop and prance. She does have allergies which we have been trying to pin point with the vet. She gets ear infections frequently and scratches a lot due to it. We have tried allergy shots, and prescriptions for certain food but she still has problems. She loves kids but likes to try to herd due to her breed. She is around cats but likes to chase them. She has been around few other dogs but has had an issue with one being a female but was fine with our male older dog. I would like the potential adopter to be able to have patience and be able to teach her things. She has done a bit of dog training and she is super smart and picks up on things quick but needs someone who can keep working with her. All her belongings will be included.

Story
Meet Bronco! Bronco is an amazing pup, estimated to be between 1–2 years old, and he’s still very much in that playful puppy phase. Curious about everything, he loves exploring the world around him and discovering new sights, smells, and adventures. Bronco gets along wonderfully with other dogs and currently has three foster siblings he enjoys playing and lounging with throughout the day. He is also potty trained, and he is currently working on becoming fully kennel trained. This sweet boy is quite the talker—Bronco loves to express himself with silly grumbles, playful barks, and funny little sounds, especially when he’s excited or vying for attention. He has a big personality and an even bigger heart. While he can be a bit skittish at first and sometimes thinks he’s in trouble when you approach, he is quickly learning that people can be kind and gentle. Each day, he grows more confident, more trusting, and more affectionate. In the evenings, Bronco enjoys curling up on a cozy dog bed, and he’ll occasionally trot over to give you a soft “boop” as his sweet way of asking for pets. He also has great protective instincts—if he hears a strange noise outside, he’ll be the first to investigate and alert his people. Bronco is well on his way to becoming a loyal, loving, and devoted companion. With continued patience, reassurance, and love, he will blossom into the incredible dog he is meant to be. He’s ready to find a forever family to adore and protect. Bronco is being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX but can be transported to the PNW and NE United States after adoption. Nova is housetrained and ready to slip right into family life. The only thing she asks is a cat-free home, as she prefers to keep her circle canine and human only.If you're looking for a loving, playful, and loyal companion, Nova could be the one to light up your life. 🐾❤️ Primary Color: Blue Merle Secondary Color: Black Weight: 60 Age: 7yrs 0mths 1wks I am available for adoption at the Pocatello Animal Shelter.

Story
Penny is a 3-year-old Catahoula with a big heart and an even bigger desire to be near her people. This sweet, intelligent girl is house-trained, leash-savvy, and knows her basic commands. She’s both active and cuddly — equally happy joining you for a walk or curling up on the couch. Penny thrives on routine and gentle care. She’s still working on her confidence around kids and prefers a feline-free home, but really enjoys other dogs. While crate-trained, Penny much prefers being close to her humans and can get nervous when left alone for long. She loves a good bone or stuffed toy. Penny's perfect match would be a calm and gentle adult household that is home often, and loves to include their new pup on outings. If you're looking for a loyal, people-loving pup who just wants to be part of your world, Penny may be the perfect match. Please start with the adoption application: freedomboundhounds.com/adopt

Story
Floki, (now shortened to Loki), has been returned due to being the wrong breed fit for the Family we chose for him. There is a 6 yr old boy in the home that has "done something" according to the mom, while unsupervised and Floki now dislikes the boy and growls when he enters the room. The other two kids he's perfectly fine with. The parents are also concerned about Floki's level of protectiveness, and don't like the way he behaves (wary, watchy and low growls occasionally ) when company is over. Therefore, they have decided they aren't the people for him, don't know how to fix what is developing in his behavior and would like to return him for rehoming before he actually harms the offending boy. This is what they had to say about him; Loki is a great dog. Most of the time he is much calmer than I'd expect him to be at under 2 years old, but his playful attitude comes out when you get him around other dogs (or he tries to play with the humans if he hasn't had enough stimulation). He does really well when there is one other dog and him to run around and play with. We have a neighbor with a similar age poodle mix and they get along very well. We've noticed if he ends up playing too hard with our neighbor's dog and she yelps from him nipping her or something, he understands what that means and plays slightly less intensely. He loves to run and could use a bigger yard than ours. We have about 1/4 acre lot. He also likes to play wrestle with our kids, except one, and play fetch. Loki would do great with a dog door I think. We don't have one and I find myself letting him in and out quite often, or just leaving the door open for him because he likes to wander from inside to outside pretty frequently. He also seems to LOVE the snow! He wants to eat it and prance in it and it is adorable and a fun way to interact with him. Loki is very food/treat motivated. He reliably sits and lays down using "sit" and "down" commands. Unless distracted, he is great at staying with us off leash when we walk around our neighborhood and has decent recall (especially if you have a treat). He also has been taught to lay down before he is let inside (or through a gated area of the house). It has helped with him scratching at things, although he still does so on occasion. He walks well on a leash unless he is distracted. We worked with him on loose leash walking, which he still needs a little practice, especially since we didnt take as many walks in the winter months, but when we were walking more often in the summer/fall, he was doing a great job! He jumps up on people quite a bit even though we've been working on it. He barks when he sees people or other animals outside and when people come to our house in a protective, defensive way, but otherwise he isn't super vocal. Loki does great in cars and loves to ride with us. He definitely likes to be involved with whatever his humans are doing and go where ever they are going. When we do leave him home alone, he does well free roaming the house. He does well being in a crate when he has a bone, kong with peanut butter or frozen greek yogurt and kibble, or a bully stick when left alone. Otherwise, he can get into things. Definitely want to keep food up and away from him, and possibly even closed off from him if you leave him alone. He will find a way to get into it. We also keep him unkenneled at night and he does a great job just sleeping on his dog bed or the couches. He does not have accidents inside ever. This was his original post from August of 2024; Floki is a 7-month-old neutered male purebred, DNA tested. He is not a Rottie or a Rottie mix! Please Google the breed and do your due research before applying. Floki is a young adolescent male Catahoula. He is very smart, and loyal, but also stubborn and thinks he's smarter than me. He test his boundaries once in awhile to see how far he can get away with something. He is super smart and very treat motivated. He has excellent off lead recall. He does have a large assortment of chew toys and seems to stick to them nicely. He is not an excessive barker. He does alarm bark when visitors arrive. He is excellent with other dogs of all sizes. He has been raised from 5 weeks of age, when he came in to Rescue with his mom and littermates, on a small family farm. He is used to being around horses, cows, goats, and free range farm fowl of every species. That said, he CANNOT be trusted around the fowl unsupervised. This is a lack of impulse control that most puppies his age go through. He may grow out of it, most do. He may not. Best to keep him well supervised if you have fowl. He also is good with cats most days, but does like to chase them if they'll run. My old cats hate him, and my young ones play with him. He is crate trained, but currently (since it's gotten nice out) prefers to sleep outside on the back deck with our LGD (Great Pyrenees mix dog) He seems to take her job of night time patrol for predators to heart and does a very good job at it with her. He adores children, but is very exuberant with them and jumps up and sometimes knocks them down. He rarely jumps up on adults. He rides in the car great. He likes baths. He's terrible on a leash, hates it. Needs more work there for sure. Please ask if you have any other questions.
