He is a little fearful on meeting new people for the first time but warms up after he knows you. He is curious and has lots of energy.  He is sweet and loves to play with other dogs. He needs some training and human attention but would make a great companion if given love in a new home. He is friendly with people and is curious and energetic, but due to being confined in the shelter for so long is very shy. The Catahoula breed is known for 'extreme intelligence'.  He needs a secure fenced yard. He is ready to be trained and will make a great companion as he is eager to please and have attention. A playmate would make his life complete. 2 years in a sanctuary makes gaining trust a process, but he would be so worth it and is very deserving of a family. "Dunkin" came from Enid Animal Welfare as a stray that was never claimed. Since arrival, he has been one of the kennel favorites. He is a happy boy who loves everyone that he meets. He's a big puppy at heart and just wants to be everyone's friend. "Dunkin" has been great with every dog he has been with and does play in the yard as part of a playgroup. For being a bigger dog, he isn't overpowering, and doesn't knock people over. He does try to rear up on people, but is working on that, and has never forcefully jumped on someone. "Dunkin" takes treats very gently and does know "sit" and "down." "Dunkin" uses his doggie door and keeps his inside run clean. He is estimated to be about 1.5 - 2 years old, and a Catahoula/Hound mix.
