Paula came to our shelter as an owner surrender alongside several other dogs. Sadly, she arrived underweight, frightened, and unsure of the world around her. At just five months old, she should have been learning that people are kind and life is full of fun, but instead, she had a difficult start. Over the past couple of weeks, Paula has started gaining much-needed weight and is slowly learning that she's safe. While she's still very shy and scared, we see little glimpses of hope every day. She's not quite ready to show her playful side yet, but with patience, kindness, and a gentle hand, we know that day will come. Paula is looking for a calm, loving family who understands that trust isn't built overnight. She'll need someone willing to move at her pace, celebrate the little victories, and show her what it feels like to be truly loved. In return, you'll have the incredible privilege of watching a scared puppy blossom into the confident, loyal companion she was always meant to be. Sadly, her owner developed serious health issues and passed away, leaving no one able to care for her. Through no fault of her own, she and Earl ended up at a local animal control facility that was forced to euthanize for space. The story broke hearts across the internet—and ours too. When a foster home opened up, we knew we had to help.  She's a wonderful dog who love people, get along well with other dogs, and is exceptionally well-trained. She simply want a soft place to land and a family to love again. Both Marley and Earl are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, 4DX negative, and current on ProHeart 12 and Bravecto.
