Story
Meet Merlina Safe in Foster Care and Blossoming—Now Merlina Is Ready for a Forever Home of Her Own ❤️ Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog / Terrier Mix Gender: Female | Age: Approximately 2 Years | Weight/Size: 35 lbs (Medium) Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Cats: Unknown | Kids ✔️ Medical: Spay Status: Fixed | Vaccination Status: Current | Microchip Status: Not Provided Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality, Breed Information & Merlina's Story Merlina's journey has already taken an important turn for the better. After being found without a permanent home, Merlina was fortunate enough to be welcomed into a loving foster home. Instead of having to wait in a rescue environment, she has been able to experience the comfort and stability of living with a family while she waits for the one thing she still needs—a forever home of her own. Life in foster care has given Merlina the opportunity to show everyone what a wonderful dog she truly is. Merlina is outgoing, loving, and incredibly friendly. She enjoys meeting people and has an open, social personality that makes her easy to connect with. She's the kind of dog who wants to be involved in what's happening around her, whether that's heading out for a walk, spending time outside, playing, or simply relaxing with her people. At approximately two years old, Merlina is at a fantastic age. She has moved beyond the earliest puppy stage while still being young, active, and ready for plenty of adventures. At 35 pounds, she's also a manageable medium size that can fit comfortably into many different lifestyles. Her time in foster care has helped prepare her for family life, but moving into a permanent home will still be a transition. Merlina needs someone willing to give her the patience and consistency every rescue dog deserves while she learns that this time, she's truly home. As a Catahoula Leopard Dog / Terrier Mix, Merlina may have many of the intelligent, energetic, and loyal qualities associated with these breeds. Catahoula's are known for being bright, athletic dogs that form strong bonds with their families, while Terriers often bring confidence, curiosity, and a fun-loving personality. Merlina will benefit from a home that provides both physical activity and opportunities to keep her mind engaged. Merlina would thrive with a family that offers: Plenty of love and companionship Daily walks and regular exercise Positive reinforcement training Interactive toys and mental enrichment Continued socialization Consistent household routines and boundaries Plenty of opportunities to be included in family activities A safe indoor home where she's treated as a cherished member of the family A lifelong commitment Merlina's foster home gave her a safe place to land. Now she's ready for the family who will give her a permanent place to belong. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Living in foster care gives Merlina valuable experience in a home environment, but adopters should remember that every new home brings different people, routines, sounds, expectations, and surroundings. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling comfortable 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to settle in, build trust, and truly feel at home Her future family should be prepared to continue working on any household manners, leash skills, boundaries, or other training she may need. Merlina's intelligence and outgoing personality can make positive reinforcement training a wonderful way to build a relationship with her. Consistency, praise, treats, games, and clear expectations will help her understand what her new family wants from her. She will benefit from: Continued positive reinforcement training Daily walks and physical activity Interactive games and enrichment Consistent routines Continued positive socialization Plenty of family interaction Patience during her transition from foster care With structure, affection, and time to adjust, Merlina has everything she needs to become a wonderful lifelong companion. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Adopting Merlina means making a commitment to care for her throughout every stage of her life. Her future family should be prepared to provide: Routine veterinary wellness examinations Vaccinations as recommended by a veterinarian Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Routine dental care A nutritious, balanced diet Healthy weight management Daily physical exercise Mental stimulation and enrichment Continued training and socialization Veterinary treatment whenever illness or injury occurs A safe, comfortable indoor home We recommend establishing care with a veterinarian shortly after adoption so Merlina can have an ongoing wellness plan tailored to her individual needs. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Merlina, please complete an adoption application at: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Thank you for considering adoption through Ozzie and Friends Rescue, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to giving deserving dogs another chance at safe, loving, permanent homes. Although we are based in Los Angeles, California, we proudly coordinate safe and reliable transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Merlina has already found a safe place to stay, but a foster home was never meant to be the end of her story. This outgoing, loving girl is ready for something permanent—a family to adventure with, a home to settle into, and people she can finally call her own. ❤️August 17, 2026, 10:26 pm

Story
Looking for a professional cuddler who doubles as a world class playmate? Meet the girl who is ready to turn your home into a nonstop festival of belly rubs and tail wags! https://youtu.be/y1boHfjcpps If sweetness were a sport, this girl would have a gold medal around her neck! She’s the ultimate cool girl who wins over every human she meets with a little wiggle and a lot of heart. While she might start off a tiny bit shy, one treat is all it takes to unlock her goofy, love bug personality. Get ready for a dog who doesn’t just live with you; she celebrates you every single day! This girl is the definition of a velcro dog in the very best way. She is a dedicated shadow who prefers to be wherever you are, whether you’re folding laundry or finally finishing that book. She isn’t necessarily looking to hike across the country; she's more of a map out the best spot on the rug kind of girl. If you’re looking for a companion who prioritizes quality time and indoor snuggles, you’ve found your match. While we’re always playing a fun guessing game with rescue breeds, we believe Gracie is a Catahoula mix! She has a beautiful white and brindle coat that is truly captivating; it’s the kind of coat you can’t look at just once, as you’re constantly discovering new patterns and variations in her stripes. Weighing in at a solid 56lbs, she’s compact enough to be your favorite plus one for errands, yet has a heart that’s clearly oversized! She’s the ideal size for someone who wants a buddy who fits comfortably on the sofa next to them. She is currently thriving in a foster home where she’s already proving what a star student she can be. Gracie is gentle and patient, she is also kid-friendly, making her a wonderful addition to a home with children. She’s familiar with her crate and settles down beautifully. She’s a dream in the house, calm, focused, and very respectful of her boundaries (and her snacks!). Whether it’s a car ride to the park or a quiet evening in, she’s just happy to be part of the family. When it comes to other dogs, she is an absolute rockstar! She handles leash greetings with total grace and is always down for a game of tag with her canine friends. She’s a very balanced girl who gets along with almost everyone. She’d be a fantastic addition to a home with an existing dog who wants a playful, easygoing sister to romp around with. She is also a devoted soul who is more than happy to thrive as your one and only, soaking up every bit of your attention. The jury is still out on whether Gracie’s a cat person, but she’s definitely got the curiosity! To make sure it’s a purrfect match, she’s ready to have a supervised sleepover with a feline. It would be the best way to see if she and a kitty sibling can become the ultimate besties. Don’t have a massive backyard? No problem! This girl is the ultimate apartment candidate. She’s easy to exercise and knows exactly how to flip the off switch once she’s indoors. Her foster mom says she’s happiest just hanging out and cuddling, making her the perfect neighbor. Her ideal home is anywhere her favorite person happens to be! In short, she’s a sensitive soul with a love for other dogs, and a serious talent for belly rubs. She’s the loyal, easy to love companion you’ve been dreaming of, wrapped up in a sweet, wiggly package. Story
Shredder is a stunning 7-month-old brindle boy whose proof that sometimes the best really is saved for last. The last of his litter, this handsome pup is what we like to call bomb proof—easygoing, adaptable, and ready to fit into just about any loving home. We think he's a Pittie/Catahoula mix, but whatever his DNA says, 100% of it is good boy. First things first, you should definitely watch their video: https://youtu.be/J-CijmQWwyA?si=ktlOgEK9YNi9Of5m It perfectly captures their playful, silly puppy energy. Fostered in a busy home with kids and multiple dogs, Shredder has taken everything in stride. He's incredibly well-mannered for such a young pup and already has all the basics down. He's crate trained, potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, and is quickly becoming his foster mom's favorite running partner. If you've been dreaming of a four-legged jogging buddy, Shredder is already lacing up his imaginary sneakers. When he's not out exploring, he's happy to curl up for snuggles or entertain himself with a pile of toys. He has that perfect puppy balance of playful energy and a soft, cuddly side that melts hearts. Shredder has been around dogs of all ages and personalities and gets along wonderfully with everyone—even the grumpy senior dogs who appreciate their personal space. He'd love a canine sibling in his forever home, but he'd also thrive as your one and only as long as he has regular playdates, adventures, and opportunities to socialize. Because he's such a thoughtful, well-behaved pup, we think he has great potential to live with cats as well, and we're happy to cat test him for the right family. All Shredder is looking for is a home with a yard, lots of love, and people who are ready to include him in their adventures. Fair warning: this gorgeous brindle boy is a total head-turner. Be prepared for strangers to stop you just to ask about him everywhere you go. If you're looking for a puppy who's already mastered the important stuff while still having all the fun, joy, and adventure of puppyhood ahead of him, Shredder is ready to be your perfect match. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69a1ed94afc5f28e9c010a4d Questions? Story
Meet Betsy Blue, the wiggly, talkative, piglet-sounding sweetheart you didn’t know you needed in your life. Betsy is about two years old, and while we can’t be certain since she’s a rescue, our best guess is that she’s a Catahoula Leopard Dog and Pittie mix. With her one blue eye and one brown eye, her soft, floppy ears, and her gorgeous coloring, she’s as stunning as she is silly. Betsy wears her heart close to her chest, and really leans into the people she knows best. However once you join her inner circle, she's the most loving and loyal pup you'll ever have. She's joyful, snorty, and downright hilarious. Her foster says she sounds like a piglet when she gets excited, and she'll greet her favorite people with the biggest smile on her face. Betsy has insurmountable, never ending affection for her humans with wags, wiggles, and the most loving gaze you could imagine. This girl has a deep love for her people. See just how loving and silly this girl can be in her video! https://youtu.be/s42gtTUfaQg?si=chzlVTRf8K1Stl5r Betsy is an active girl who loves her walks, and she’s an absolute dream on the leash. She’ll trot right beside you, checking in with sweet eye contact to make sure you’re enjoying yourself as much as she is. Back at home, she’s a toy enthusiast — her favorite playthings are actually small plush cat toys. She’ll toss them into the air, chase them around, and keep herself entertained with the tiniest of stuffies. She’s also a huge foodie, totally motivated by treats, which makes her not only fun but easy to train. Betsy is a smart girl too! She picks up new commands within a day or so, and loves to spend quality time learning with you. Betsy has lived with other dogs in her foster home and, while she can be shy and a little unsure at first, she blossoms once she feels safe. With time and patience, she turns into a playful companion who enjoys running, chasing, and being chased. Betsy is a dream cat-friendly girl. Her foster mom brings home all sorts of kitties - big social ones, shy ones, and even baby kittens! Betsy does phenomenal with them all. She can read the roam and if a cat wants to play - she's up for it! If the cat doesn't want anything to do with her - she gets that too! She has had plenty of practice in being cat-savvy and is capable of living peacefully with them. Because Betsy can be slow to open up to new people, she would do best with a family who understands the beauty of patience. She would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly decompress, gain confidence, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Older kids who can respect her space and let her come around on her own terms would be a great match for her. Once she trusts you, though, Betsy bonds hard. She’ll be your devoted best friend, your walking buddy, your toy-tossing partner, and your snuggly couch companion. Betsy never fails to bring a smile to everyone she meets. She’s wiggly, silly, snorty, and incredibly loyal — the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day while reminding you just how special the bond between a rescue and their person can be. She has been described as just so loveable! If you’re ready to give her the patience she deserves, Betsy is ready to give you her whole heart. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
