Story
Duke is a super sweet and loving boy that is looking for his forever home! He is a tri colored cavalier king charles spaniel, weighing 24lbs, his fur absolutely feels like silk. He is crate trained, working on potty training and loves people of all sizes. Duke was surrendered to rescue when his breeder decided to down size. He is dog friendly but he persistently aggrevates his foster brother and sisters which we have not been able to correct. Because of this Duke may be most happy as an only dog.:( Duke is fully vetted, parasite free, neutered and chipped. To be considered for this amazing boy, complete an adoption application at dirtroaddoggiesrescue.org.  Adoption contribution $350. Duke is being fostered in Hartwell GA ##2817748##

Story
Meet Rusty Rusty is a terrific little dog. He was surrendered when his family no longer had time for him. Since arriving we have been showering Rusty with love and attention and it’s making a world of difference. He was initially a bit uncertain, but after a few weeks, he’s blossomed into a sweet, fun, confident and silly pup. Rusty is about a year old. He is a long, curly haired chi mix. He is 10 lbs. of adorable. Rusty loves being with people. He loves attention. He’ll be a great constant companion. He’s curious, fun, well-mannered and he wants to please. He has gotten so brave meeting new people and if approached slowly, he will happily come up to you. He walks easily on a leash but also loves being held. He is a cuddle bug. He enjoys sniffing and exploring. He likes other dogs. He can have a dominant approach, but we think that’s because he is still waiting to be fixed (which he’ll be before going home.) Rusty is fine with cats. If they show interest in him, he thinks they want to play and may try and engage them in a light-hearted manner, but otherwise, he goes about his business. Rusty is not yet housetrained, but we have him on a regular schedule, which has been very helpful. Rusty is a small little guy, and he has to go outside to potty more often than larger dogs. A containment yard, even if small, will be necessary so that he can do his business more easily. Experience tells us that having to walk him throughout the day may get cumbersome no matter how diligent his family will want to be. We think a fence will benefit both Rusty and his new family. But he is not to be left outside unattended, he’s too small and he will want to know that you’re close by. Rusty likes to know he matters. He’s starting to understand what love and attention feel like. He is a little gem and a keeper. If you’re looking for a wonderful companion, small enough to carry, hearty enough to walk, affectionate enough to settle in and keep you company, Rusty may be perfect for you. He has so much to offer. Get your application in for Rusty at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
