Say hello to Nugget! Looking for a happy, wiggly, always-ready-for-fun companion? This handsome Cavalier Spaniel mix is 10 months old and already an expert at stealing hearts. With his jet-black coat, lots of beautiful waves, and that adorable smile, Nugget is one very handsome little guy.Nugget came to us as an owner surrender, and he’s ready to leave his past behind and begin his next adventure with a family of his own. At 10 months old, he’s still very much a puppy, which means he has plenty of energy, curiosity, enthusiasm—and a whole lot of bounce—to spare. In fact, Nugget is basically an Energizer Bunny with four paws!Nugget is a very high-energy young dog who loves all kinds of activities and would be thrilled to have a family who enjoys keeping him busy and involved in the fun. And when we say Nugget has some serious athletic ability, we mean it. This little guy is incredibly acrobatic and can literally jump off walls. He can also scale low fences and baby gates, so his family will need to be prepared for his impressive escape-artist skills. Nugget isn’t looking for a home where he’ll spend most of his day confined. While he is crate trained, we believe he may have spent a lot of time crated in his previous life. His ideal home will have someone around often who can give him appropriate freedom, supervision, exercise, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to be part of the family.When he’s not busy launching himself into his next adventure, Nugget is an affectionate sweetheart who loves being with his people. He is always smiling and seems to have a permanent happy-face setting. He is dog friendly, cat friendly, uses pee pads in the home, and even knows his “sit” command. This little guy has lots of love to give and would make a wonderful companion and sidekick for an active family.There are a few important things his future family should know. Nugget is still very much a puppy, and he’s not afraid to act like one. He can be mouthy, especially when he’s excited, and he can also be destructive if he doesn’t have enough appropriate outlets for his energy. His new family will need to provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, supervision, and appropriate things to chew and play with while continuing to teach him good manners. Patience, consistency, and a good sense of humor will go a long way with this energetic boy.Nugget is also definitely a barker, so apartment, condo, and townhouse living are not for him. He can be protective of his food and toys, so a home with older, respectful children is preferred. His family will need to continue helping him learn that sharing is a good thing and that people approaching his prized possessions is nothing to worry about.That gorgeous wavy coat also needs a little attention to keep Nugget looking his best. He will require occasional grooming to keep those fabulous waves neat, healthy, and tangle-free.Nugget will be turning one year old on November 6, 2026, and we think the very best birthday present would be a family of his own. This delightful, happy fellow is ready for adventures, cuddles, playtime, training, and all the love you can give him. He may be a little bit wild, a little bit silly, and a whole lot of puppy—but underneath all that energy is a loving dog who wants to be part of a family.Nugget is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, which means you can welcome him into your home while he finishes his veterinary care. His vetting will include neuter, vaccines, microchip, and testing for heartworm disease.
