Hi, I’m Oakley! Oakley was the name my previous family named me. My new foster mom calls me that too, but sometimes calls me Fozzy Bear. Some people refer to me as a designer dog, more specifically a “cavachon,” but in reality, I’m a wonderful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise mix, and I weigh only 20 pounds. I spent my whole life with my previous family, and I’m an adult dog now (6, actually).
Unfortunately for me, I fell down the stairs in the beginning of August 2023 and hurt my back. Ever since then, I have difficulty being able to control my body like I used to. Currently, my back legs drag when I move and I need reminders to slow down when I see a tennis ball, so I don’t tear up the skin on my back legs. I also need bladder expressions, but I’m a very good boy for those. My foster mom is willing to teach anyone how to do that, it’s very simple once you see how it’s done. I’m hoping to get a wheelchair soon so that I can really run again in the backyard with my other dog siblings. I love to follow you and be wherever you are in the home. I get sad when you leave the house, but settle quickly. In my former home, I lived with 2 very small children and was said to do well with them. I have met some medium sized children and I like them too. I get along great with other dogs, but I haven’t met any cats. I love car rides and don’t mind feeling the wind through my fur. I also went to a park in a stroller and I really liked seeing things from a high perspective, as long as my foster mom didn’t stray too far from me! So let’s cut to the chase and make this midlife crisis a positive one to find my new forever home!
*Oakley is being foster in Sturgeon Bay.
