Story
Aldo is an approximately 2-3 year old chihuahua that was hit by a car in 2023 and left at the side of the road. He was so lucky to be found by a caring person who rushed him to the vet to help him. Amazingly he did not have any broken bones. Once recovered from his wounds, he needed help learning how to walk again but unfortunately did not have access to supported recovery, so he learned to drag himself around to move from place to place. This resulted in skin wounds and injuries. Since being with Mountainside, Aldo has been learning to walk and not drag. He has gone through rehabilitation to build up the strength in his hind end which was completely atrophied. With love and care from his current foster, he is encouraged to walk and is getting much stronger. He loves people so much as well as other dogs and cats. Aldo is learning to play with his friends and very much enjoys being a lap dog wherever possible. His favourite moves are chin and belly rubs.

Story
**Note: Younga is currently in Korea, but she will fly to Vancouver once adopted. Background Younga is a gentle little soul who was rescued from a farmer. She had been chained outside a greenhouse and used as a guard dog. After many attempts to persuade the owner, he finally agreed to surrender her. She now lives safely in our boarding house with other dogs. Personality and Socialization Younga is a very sweet and tender girl. She has medium energy and enjoys playing with friendly small dogs. She is also fine with larger dogs as long as they are calm and kind. With people, she is a total love bug. She adores being close and seeks affection often. She has no experience with cats, but given her soft nature she should adjust well with a slow and patient introduction. Behaviours She has been an easy dog from the start. She does well in the car, during baths and at vet visits. She was calm and well mannered during her checkups. She is quiet, obedient and very loving. She has shown no separation anxiety and no destructive behavior. She uses indoor pee pads and also does her potty outside. She is still new to leash walking but she follows her person nicely and is learning quickly. Health and Diet Younga is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is dewormed and receives monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry kibble and has no known allergies. Ideal Home Younga is a sweet, gentle and easygoing girl. She will be happiest with someone who works from home or is retired since being close to her person is what she loves most. She is a great fit for a first time dog parent, and she would also do well as a second dog. With her kind nature, she can blend into many types of families. Whoever adopts her will be very lucky to have her. ----------------------------- For more info about the dog, or the adoption applicaiton, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/younga/

Story
Hiya! My name is MOY. Me and my pal POPEYE are a BONDED PAIR and MUST go to a home together! Here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Chihuahua mix Age: Approx. 1 year old Gender: Male Weight: 8.4 lbs (3.7 kg)  Height: 33 cm (paws to shoulders), 43 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 48 cm (head to butt) Neck: 23 cm Chest: 38 cm Current Location:  Mexico City RESCUE STORY - Me and Popeye were rescued together two months ago. We used to live on the street with a few homeless alcoholics. It’s believed we taken from somewhere else, as the homeless people didn't have us one day and then showed up with us the next. Unfortunately, we were mostly tied up and had little chances to move. Me and Popeye were kept hungry and dirty. At rescue, we were both dirty and underweight but fortunately, had no serious health issues. Our rescuers have searched for our "original owners" (if we had any) but nobody has come to claim us. SO... now we're hoping and praying that a lovely family in the Pacific North West will want to give us both a loving home together! After all we've been through, we have kinda "trauma bonded" together and are inseparable now. I get pretty stressed out when we are separated (video). TEMPERAMENT - I am friendly and very affectionate with people I know and trust (video) and am more reserved with people I have never met (video, video 2, video 3). I am pretty chill (for a chihuahua) and don't appear to bark much or show any aggressive behaviours. I am curious when outdoors and hope to have more opportunities to explore nature when we go to our forever home. I am dog friendly and absolutely need my buddy Popeye as my companion; we walk (video), play, eat, cuddle (video, video 2), and sleep next to each other. We have shown that we are essentially each other's "emotional support animal", so our rescuers want us to be adopted together.   We were only recently rescued (Sept. 2025) from pretty unsafe and unstable conditions, where our movements were quite restricted. We are getting used to the new environment of the shelter. When together, we are way more confident. I think the ideal adopter for me and Popeye should be aware that we will need some time to get used to a new home, but also expect us to grow into very affectionate, playful furry companions with time! :) ENERGY LEVEL - Low - Both Popeye and I are pretty chill, low energy dudes! Once comfortable in our new home, I'm sure we'll come out of our shells a bit, but I don't think we'll ever be crazy energetic boys. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs –  Yup! At the shelter, Popeye and I live with dogs of all sizes. We get along with everybody. We eat together with other dogs and show no resource guarding. We can be a bit uneasy when meeting doggos when on leash, but you can see here we warm up pretty quickly. Proper introductions on leash (parallel walks etc.) and advocating for our space will be essential to us getting comfortable! Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress! I don't get to go out on walks very often, so I will need some leash work (video). I'm curious when outdoors and don't appear to be bothered by fast driving cars or noise. I am hoping to find an adopter to help me become more confident and find the joy of going out on walks! Here are some videos of me and Popeye walking together on leash (video, video2). A calm, confident owner will be helpful in us learning to walk confidently! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.  ADOPTION FEE: My bonded pair adoption fee (with Moy) is $1,568.00 CAD including tax ($1400 + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes both of our adoption fees, vet costs, and airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. Hiya! My name is TOMAS and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Chihuahua Dachshund mix Age: Approx. 4 years old Gender: Male Weight: 12.5 lbs (5.6 kg)  Height: 38 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 52 cm (head to butt) Neck: 28 cm Chest: 45 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - My rescue story is all too common! My “family” moved away and left me behind to fend for myself. Can you imagine?! A little cutie like me! I was abandoned in a well known dumping area near a prison facility in Mexico City. When my rescuers found me, I was dirty and a bit underweight (see photo on the steps), but otherwise perfectly healthy. I was placed in a temporary foster home before making my way to the shelter, where I’m awaiting my true forever family! TEMPERAMENT & ENERGY LEVEL - Low - I’m a gentle guy who’s all about the low key life! My rescuer says I have a calm demeanor and a quiet presence. You can often find me soaking up the sun, I even have a favorite sunbathing spot (video)! While I interact with doggos of all sizes at the shelter, I shy away from playing with large pups. I much prefer small dogs and absolutely adore puppies! Who doesn’t?! As you can see in my videos (here, here, here and here), I love to cuddle and often seek out human affection! I’m a sweet cuddle bug looking for all the loving, will that be with you?! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. While I’m a gentle soul, not much is known about my experience around kiddos. Dogs –  Yes! I live with dogs of all sizes here at the shelter! Although, I do prefer smaller dogs and puppies! Cats – Unknown. My rescuer says that I am feline friendly, but we will need a cat test to be sure! PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Good! I’m pretty chill on a leash, and prefer a solo-stroll (video). A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.
