Story
Kimo is part of a bonded pair with a small female terrier, Penny. Kimo will be 5 in November. Penny is 9 years old and still energetic. Kimo has grown up with Penny since he was a puppy. They are super cuddly and love to snuggle. Both are mellow at home but love chasing a ball at the beach. They would do well with active people who bring their pets on adventures. They’ve grown up with access to a backyard via a doggy door to use the bathroom, so they are house-trained for that. They would need some training if they were in a home with specific bathroom times. But they are very smart and food-motivated, so easy to train. Penny and Kimo are both in excellent health and can happily hike for 5 miles or longer. They are both good with older kids (5+), especially Kimo, as he loves all new people. They can be anxious around younger children and sometimes cautious with bigger dogs on walks.

Story
Meet Chico, a 1 year old Chihuahua mix who is looking for a patient person to help him discover just how wonderful life can be.Chico can be a little nervous when meeting someone new. He may initially back away or feel unsure about being handled, especially in unfamiliar situations. Once he has some time to settle in, though, he`s much more comfortable and cooperative. Chico is the kind of little dog who will benefit from patience, gentle interactions, and someone willing to let trust grow at his own pace.Once he`s feeling comfortable, Chico loves getting outside! He enjoys going for walks, playing outdoors, and exploring the grass. He`s even been known to have a little fun digging holes—because apparently every good Chihuahua mix needs a hobby!Chico is sensitive to loud noises and can be nervous around larger dogs, so a calmer environment where he can feel safe may be the best fit for him. His previous home included both indoor and outdoor living, so he`s still learning some of the routines that come with being a house dog, including house training and crate training. A patient family willing to help him learn these skills will give Chico an incredible foundation for his future. This sweet boy doesn`t need someone to rush him. He needs someone who will show him that new people, new places, and new experiences can be safe. With consistency, kindness, and plenty of positive reinforcement, Chico has the opportunity to become a confident little companion. If you`re looking for a small dog with a big potential for growth, Chico is ready to meet you—and hopefully, with a little patience, he`ll discover that he`s finally home.Walk in meet and greet any day of the week except Thursdays from 12pm to 4:30pm.

Story
Every day should start with Waffles! On my first field trip, I was a little shy because everything was new, but I was such a good girl. I hopped right into the car and snuggled on my human’s lap for the entire 30-minute drive. I didn’t bark or get squirmy at all, I just stayed cozy and calm, giving little kisses on the chin and hand. ??Then we went on a muddy 2.5-mile hike! I did so good. I hopped over logs, spotted some chickens, and wagged my tail because I was having such a happy time. We even passed a pit bull, and I didn’t bark, growl, or get scared.I wasn’t really a fan of the shaved ice… but I **LOVED** my treats. Obviously. ??I’m a very good girl, even though I can get a little overwhelmed when I’m somewhere new. Once I settle in, I’m sweet, cuddly, and ready to be your best friend. I think I’d make a pretty perfect pet. Oh, and did I mention I have the cutest little underbite? It’s kind of my signature look. ???? Want to meet me? Schedule a meet and greet or walk into the shelter between 12-4:30 any day but Thursdays!
