Meet Whinnie!
Whinnie is a young Chihuahua mix who came into rescue as an owner surrender, and we are incredibly grateful that her owner made the difficult decision to ask for help. Sometimes the hardest choices are the ones made out of love, and for Whinnie, this decision may have truly saved her life.
Whinnie came from a home where she was repeatedly involved in conflicts with other dogs. While no one can know exactly how every situation started, what we do know is that Whinnie was being hurt, the risk was increasing, and the next incident could have had a much different outcome. Whinnie deserved the chance to be safe, decompress, and learn that not every interaction has to end in fear.
And that is exactly what she is doing.
When Whinnie first arrived, she had this almost permanent look of worry and concern on her little face, like she was waiting for the other shoe to drop. But day by day, that expression is fading as she learns that she is safe, loved, and surrounded by people who will advocate for her.
Now? Whinnie is showing everyone what a little sweetheart she really is and she loves cuddling and napping with her foster/rescue pals. That is why we know she would prefer another friendly dog in her forever home.
She is practically perfect. She has been absolutely wonderful with the other dogs and cats in rescue and has surprised us with just how kind and gentle she can be when she is in the right environment. She enjoys attention, loves being loved, and is learning to relax.
Whinnie does have some very minor separation and crate anxiety, but she is already working through it. With patience, routine, and reassurance, she continues to gain confidence every day.

If interested in meeting and potentially adopting, please read the adoption requirements and complete the adoption application located at forbellessake.org. Once processed and approved a meet and greet can be scheduled and if a match an adoption can be finalized at that time. FBS standard adoption fee is $175. All residents are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and treated for any known medical needs. Breeds are best guess. Housetraining is not guaranteed but crate training is worked on with all residents. A secure physically fenced yard is prioritized if a yard is present. Temperament cannot be and is not guaranteed.
