Story
At 12 years old, sweet Sally found herself alone in a high-kill shelter after her beloved mom passed away, and no one in the family stepped forward to take her in. Heartbroken and confused, she deserved so much better. Now, she's patiently waiting for someone to show her that some humans do cherish their best friend. When Sally came to us, she was shut down and battling an upper respiratory infection. Her spirit was dim, but not lost. With time, love, and a little patience, she’s slowly learning to trust again. We're still waiting for the day when her nervous tail sways turn into full-on wags, but we know it’s coming.Sally likely has some arthritis, which makes her a bit stiff, but she’s now on joint supplements and pain meds to help her feel more comfortable. Her eyesight isn't the best, but that doesn't stop her from seeking affection-or letting out a little whine when she can’t find her people. It takes a few weeks for her to come out of her shell, but once she realizes she’s safe, she adores her humans. Sally isn’t a fan of being picked up, but she loves to be gently petted and will gladly sit right beside you, content just to be near.Sally Shells is still revealing her personality, and we know she has so much love left to give. She’s ready for her forever home—a quiet, loving place where she can finally feel safe and treasured.Could you be the one to give Sally the soft, peaceful retirement she deserves? To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Story
Meet Fisherman!Fisherman is a 12-year-old, 5 lb Chihuahua with a gentle soul. He was found as a stray and ended up in a large, overcrowded shelter — an overwhelming and scary place for such a tiny pup. This experience left him feeling anxious and timid when meeting new people or adjusting to changes. In his foster home, Fisherman has already made wonderful progress. Over the past few weeks, he has grown braver and more confident. He’s starting to enjoy being petted and held, and has even begun seeking out his foster dad for cuddles and attention. Watching him slowly open up has been heartwarming.Fisherman gets along well with the other dogs in the home, happily sharing a bed with them. He pays no mind to the resident cat and has been an easygoing companion. With a calm, patient home, Fisherman will continue to blossom into the loving, affectionate companion he’s meant to be. 💕To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
