Story
Abby's Journey: A Tale of Resilience and Hope A Rough Start Abby, a petite 10-pound, 8-year-old chihuahua, has faced more challenges than most in her small life. After her owner passed away, she was briefly taken in by a kind-hearted lady who found herself unable to care for Abby due to her fearful nature. This led Abby to Barking Mad Animal Rescue (BMAR), in need of a fresh start. When Abby arrived at BMAR, she was in poor condition—underweight, missing patches of hair, and with sores on her skin. She was so frightened that she would bite out of fear and was unfriendly towards other dogs. The Transformation Despite her initial condition, the dedicated team at BMAR worked tirelessly to nurse Abby back to health. With proper care, love, and socialization, Abby blossomed into a beautiful, happy, and shiny little dog. Her transformation was nothing short of miraculous, and she was ready for a new chapter. An Unexpected Turn With high hopes, Abby was sent from Texas to Canada to live with a foster family. Although BMAR managed to raise just $40 towards her $853 bill, they were determined to give her the chance she deserved. Abby was doing well—happy and thriving in her new environment. However, Abby's strong attachment to her foster led to unexpected challenges. She became protective and intolerant of other dogs and people, leading to behavioral issues. As a result, Abby had to return to Texas in April 2025. Back to BMAR Upon her return to BMAR, Abby surprised everyone by reverting to her sweet, angelic self. The team recognized that finding the right home for Abby would take time—a home where she could be the center of attention without competition from other pets. A Call for Support BMAR is committed to finding Abby her perfect forever home. In the meantime, they face financial challenges. Abby's vet bill from eight months ago remains outstanding, and her recent travel expenses have added another $600 to the costs. The rescue mission requires determination and grit, as well as financial support from the community. Abby's story is one of resilience, and BMAR is hopeful that with help, they can secure her a loving home that suits her unique personality. How You Can Help If you are moved by Abby's story and wish to help find her that perfect home, please share and post onto your groups! Together, let's ensure that Abby finds the perfect home where she can continue to shine as the special dog she truly is.

Story
A Tale of Resilience Keisha, a brave dog, was found in a dire situation—a horrific hoarding case. At just two years old, she lived in less than ideal conditions, weighs ten pounds, she’s little. Despite the hardships, Keisha's spirit remained unbroken, and she has since become a symbol of resilience. A New Beginning After being rescued, Keisha and her puppies were given the care and attention they needed. The puppies have now been weaned and are ready for the next chapter of their lives. Keisha has now been fully vetted, ensuring she is healthy and prepared for adoption. Finding Forever Homes Keisha is understandably wary after her early experiences. For this reason, it's recommended that she be placed in home without young children. A calm and nurturing environment will help her feel safe and secure as she adjusts to a new life. The Path to Healing Keisha has come a long way, and she deserves a loving family that can provide them with patience, understanding, and affection. If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or adopting these remarkable dogs, you would be offering them a chance to thrive in a caring and supportive home. By opening your heart and home to these animals, you not only provide them with a second chance but also receive the companionship and joy that only a pet can bring.

Story
One of 5 surrendered to a shelter after the owner died. Fat boy (no, I did not name him) is around 7 years old and weighs 12 pounds. He walks well on a leash, is probably housetrained and ok in a crate and car rides. They don't like fast movements and are still a bit unsettled. I guess when the owner got sick and died, they were thrown outside. They have the tips of their ears eaten off by flies. Prior to that they must have been well loved for they are fully vetted(all vaccines, microchipped, neutered/spayed) and housebroken...the big tell is heartworm negative. In Texas, that doesn't happen unless the dogs are given monthly prevents. It is very important to all of us to find these dogs a loving home where they can settle down and be loved on again. It is just heartbreaking to see these dogs ripped out of a loving home and never seeing their beloved owner again. Just thrown away.... we want to give them a world again and we need the help of kind and caring people to do it. This is the only photo I have at this time.

Story
Meet Kate: A Special Chihuahua Mix Ready for Adoption Background Kate is a resilient 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs in at a petite 12 pounds. Her journey to finding a forever home is nothing short of remarkable. Rescued from a horrific hoarding situation in Texas, where 45 dogs were living without adequate care, Kate has overcome significant challenges brought on by severe flooding that left many animals with nowhere to go. Health and Care Kate is now fully vetted and ready to embark on the next chapter of her life. She is spayed, microchipped, and has received all necessary vaccinations. Importantly, she is heartworm negative, ensuring she is in good health and ready to settle into a loving home. Personality and Temperament Due to her past, Kate is understandably skittish and is still adjusting to human interaction, as the dogs in her previous environment were not handled regularly. She requires a quiet home with a patient and understanding owner who can provide her with the love and stability she needs. Affectionate: Despite her initial wariness, Kate can be very affectionate once she feels safe and secure. Treat Motivated: Her love for treats makes it easier to gain her trust and work on building a bond. Dog Friendly: Having lived with 45 other dogs, Kate is very dog friendly and may thrive in a home with other canine companions. Ideal Home Kate is best suited for a household without children, as her skittish nature means she may not be comfortable with the unpredictability that children can bring. A calm and tranquil environment will help her continue to blossom. Her new home should be one where she can continue to learn, feel secure, and express her loving nature. Ready for Adoption Kate is now ready for adoption through Barking Mad Animal Rescue. With the right home, Kate has the potential to be a loving and loyal companion. Her story is one of resilience and hope, and she is eagerly awaiting the chance to become a cherished member of a family. If you think you could provide the patience and love Kate needs, consider opening your heart and home to this special girl.
