Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Phoebe, a spunky young Chinese Crested puppy who packs a whole lot of personality, affection and fun into her 14-pound frame! Phoebe believes life is better with squeaky toys, crinkly toys—and especially yellow toys! She loves playing tug-of-war, tossing her toys, wrestling and even playing fetch. When she isn’t busy having fun, this affectionate little sweetheart is happy to snuggle into bed with a favorite human or two. Phoebe enjoys long walks, playdates with small dogs and splashing through rain puddles. Grass, however, is highly overrated in her opinion! She will walk through it when necessary, but she would much rather find a soft pillow than sit on grass or a hard floor. Smart and eager to please, Phoebe is motivated by both treats and affection. She already understands “kennel,” comes when her name is called and is learning “sit”—provided an appropriately comfortable sitting surface can be found! Phoebe would thrive with a playful, similarly sized canine companion or with someone who spends plenty of time at home. She enjoys children, but because of her small size and enthusiastic personality, children over age eight would be the best fit. Large dogs may be overwhelming for her, and she is still trying to figure out exactly what cats are all about. A fenced yard would be wonderful but is not required. Phoebe uses pee pads and is continuing to work on her housetraining. She will do best with a consistent routine, a designated potty area and a family committed to helping her continue making progress. Her new family should also be prepared to maintain her regular bathing and skincare routine, as she can develop the mild acne commonly seen in young Chinese Cresteds. Fortunately, she is a cooperative little bathing beauty—especially when her favorite human joins her in the shower! With plenty of toys, cozy places to sit, cute clothes for chilly weather and people who will adore her, Phoebe is ready to bring nonstop smiles and affection to one very lucky family. If you’re looking for a playful, loving and wonderfully entertaining companion, Phoebe may be your perfect match! Phoebe’s adoption donation is $750, and she is currently being fostered in the Cleveland, Ohio area. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, started on heartworm prevention, tested negative for heartworms, and is on flea and tick prevention. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.  September 15, 2026, 10:41 pm

For a chihuahua this little guy is a really nice dog. Had a small stubborn streak but overall loves everyone, listens, playful, cuddles, prefers a pee pad inside to going outside but is catching on to it. Typical little dog with big dog attitude. p>I am in a foster home so if you are interested in adoptiong me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.    September 16, 2026, 9:01 am

Story
DOB: 1/18/2026 Hi there, I’m Peanut!  I’m a Chihuahua mix puppy and pretty much everything in the world is brand new and exciting to me. I’ve got a whole lot of energy packed into my little body and I love to run and play and explore. But here’s my secret. When the playing is done, all I really want to do is climb into your lap and snuggle up close. I’m a serious cuddle bug. I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes. Kitchen, couch, you name it, I’m right behind her like a tiny shadow. And when it’s mealtime I sit and wait so patiently because I already know good things come to puppies who are sweet. I get along with just about everybody. The kittens, the older cats, the big dogs, I love them all and I just want to be friends. I think the world is a wonderful place full of people and animals to love. I also love going to new places and seeing new things. Adventure is my middle name. I’m doing really well with my crate training and my potty training too. I’m even learning to ring a little bell when I need to go outside, and I’d love a person who keeps helping me get really good at it. At the end of the day I curl up with my foster family and my foster sibling and I feel so safe and happy. That’s all I want for the rest of my life. Someone to love, a warm spot to snuggle into, and a few new adventures along the way. Could that someone be you?   I am in a foster home so if you are interested in adoptiong me, please fill out an online adoption application at https://colonycats.org/adoption_app.html to expedite the process.  Due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are unable to respond to emails quickly.  September 16, 2026, 9:01 am
