Story
Hi, I'm Phoenix. I'm one year old, I'm a Chiweenie, and I'm full of energy. I get my bold streak from my Chihuahua side and my love of burrowing from my Dachshund side. I'm small, but I have plenty of personality and a whole lot of heart.
My Favorite Things
Sleeping under the covers
When it's time to sleep, I head straight under the blankets. I'll nose my way in, turn around a few times, and curl up in a warm ball right beside you. If you wake up and can't find me, check the foot of the bed. You'll find a lump under the blanket, and that's me, happily snoozing. My Dachshund ancestors dug into burrows, and I've made the bed my own burrow.
Playing with other dogs
I'm very social and I love making friends with other dogs. Big or small, calm or wild, I'm up for zoomies, wrestling, or a game of chase. I don't always realize how small I am, but I make up for it with speed and enthusiasm.
Hopping around the backyard
The backyard is my playground, and I don't just walk through it. I bounce. I hop through the grass like a bunny, chase whatever catches my eye, and check every corner of the yard over and over. You'll know I'm having the best day ever when my ears are flopping and my tail is going full speed.
Eating (a lot)
Food is one of my great loves. I finish every meal with gusto and I'm always ready for seconds. I'll sit nicely, stare at you, and look extra sweet if I think a snack might come my way. My family helps me keep my portions healthy, because a long back like mine does best when I stay trim.
Greeting my person
My favorite part of every day is when you come home. As soon as I hear the car or the door, I come running. There's spinning, jumping, wiggling, happy little whines, and a tail that won't stop wagging. Whether you were gone five minutes or all day, I greet you like you've been gone for a year, because I missed you that much.

Loyal: I'm devoted to my person and like to stay close.
Energetic: I'm fun-sized and always ready for the next adventure.
Affectionate: I love to cuddle, especially under a warm blanket.
Social: Other dogs are my friends. I just haven't met all of them yet.

A little stubborn: I'm smart and I learn fast, but sometimes I have my own ideas.
