Meet Groot, or "Grootius Maximus," a 3-year-old male 100lb+ Akita! Groot is a large working breed dog who is also a gentle giant. True to his breed, Groot can be nervous if people approach him too quickly and he thrives with people who take their time to get to know his personality. Groot is bouncy and energetic with many people he has met during his time at CCHS and is a Doggie Day Out candidate, meaning he's taken field trips to local parks with volunteers! Due to Groot’s breed, you must submit an application prior to meeting him. In addition, all family members that live in the home are required to meet with Groot before adopting him. Groot would benefit from a home that is familiar with the breed and can advocate for him meeting new people. Give us a call and we’d love to tell you more about him! Groot is a STAFF FAVORITE pet! Here's what Adoption Staff member, Darrian, has to say about him: "Groot has been my favorite since the moment he got here. On the outside, he can seem big and intimidating, but he really is just a teddy. This giant softy gives the best cuddles and biggest kisses, especially if he knows you well. My favorite part of the day is going to visit him and getting to "dance" with him. When excited, he does little popcorns and hops in a circle, kind of like a guinea pig when it popcorns. I call it dancing because he'll start right up if I bounce along with him. He'll put his whole body weight into you just for more support while you pet all over him. He brings you his favorite toys to show them off and overall is just a real mush and sweetheart. You couldn't ask for a better pup!"
