Tomo is a 4-year-old neutered mixed breed, likely a blend of chihuahua and pitbull, with a personality that’s equal parts sweet, playful, and a little mischievous. He has a gentle soul and a soft way about him, especially when taking treats. He’ll carefully nibble them from your hand like he knows he’s being trusted. He loves closeness, whether that’s snuggling up with other dogs or curling up next to his humans for a nap, if you let him. At the same time, Tomo has an adventurous side. He enjoys being outside, soaking up the sun, chasing insects, and exploring every scent he can find. He’s curious and engaged with the world around him, always on the move when something catches his attention. He can also be a bit of a rascal. At just over a year old, this sweet boy is still learning about the world around him, and every day he grows a little braver and more confident.After coming from a very sheltered environment, many everyday experiences still feel new to Carter. Loud noises and unfamiliar places can make him nervous at first, but with patience, encouragement, and a little time to sniff things out, his playful personality starts to shine. His foster watched him go from being too nervous to walk at the beach to proudly prancing down the sand after just a few visits — a huge win for this sensitive sweetheart!Carter absolutely adores people and warms up quickly. Give him about 30 seconds and he’ll likely be rolling onto his back for belly rubs, climbing into your lap, or gently booping you with his adorable little underbite. He loves affection and cuddling so much that his foster often woke up to find him tucked into bed with his head on the pillow like a tiny human. Living with Carter feels a little like having a toddler around — funny, loving, curious, and always wanting to be close to his people.He’s also been making great progress with potty training and leash walking while in foster care. Carter does best with someone who understands that confidence takes time and that gentle reassurance goes a long way. Once he feels safe, he’s eager to keep exploring and learning.Carter would thrive in a home that can continue helping him build confidence while giving him all the love and cuddles he could ever want.
