Story
Chico, 10lbs, Male Chihuahua mix, may only love one person — but he will love them with his whole heart. When Chico first came into rescue he was extremely overweight and struggling to move comfortably. He couldn’t navigate stairs, couldn’t really play, and life had become very small for him. Since then, his foster family has taken his health journey seriously and Chico has already made incredible progress. He’s now navigating stairs, playing with toys, loves walkies and showing the joyful personality that was hiding underneath all that extra weight. Chico forms a deep bond with his person and becomes a loyal little shadow. Once Chico decides you are his human, he will happily follow you from room to room, celebrate your return home with enthusiastic zoomies, and settle in beside you for cozy evenings. His favorite place in the house is the couch (as you can see in his photos). Like many Chihuahuas, Chico can be cautious and a little grumpy with new people at first. With patience and time, Chico forms an incredibly strong connection and becomes deeply devoted to his person. Being chosen by Chico is something special — once he trusts you, he will shower you with the love only a tiny, loyal Chihuahua can give. Because of this, Chico needs a home with teenage children and older who will respect his space and boundaries.  Chico does well with other dogs but should not live in a home with cats. Chico does not require a fenced yard, but he should always be leash-walked outside. Don’t let his short legs fool you — Chico is quick and has shown a bit of an escape artist streak in play yards. Chico is crate trained. In his foster home Chico is typically left out during the day and has very few accidents. Like many small dogs, Chico does best with a consistent potty routine and regular opportunities to go outside. Chico would thrive in a home where his person is around often and can enjoy the companionship of a devoted little sidekick. Story
Rory is currently in a 10 week training program at Lakeland Correctional Facility.  She is available for adoption & will be ready to go home on 10/16/26.   Rory came to us after we humanely trapped her on the west side of Elkhart. She joined my home very fearful and unsure of people around her. She has slowly come out of her shell and is meeting new people much faster now.   Rory loves to play with all the dogs. Big and small it doesn't matter.  She is shy at the first intros.  Rory has been gaining confidence here with my dogs and has been a wonderful foster girl. In her free time you can find her playing with the other dogs, chewing on a bone or snoozing away in your lap.  She loves to snuggle.  She is currently fostered with a kiddo and after the first initial meet, shes been great with her!  I estimate her to be 6 months old and about 16 lbs. This girl also has built in springs in her legs.  Rory is still grasping the concept of house training and will need to be watched closely.  She is high energy so be ready to give her lots of attention!  www.trackingintheshadows.com Adoption fee is Sponsored. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention. We do not adopt to homes with underground/electric fencing. ##2744713##

Story
Meet Sophia!  Sophia is currently in a 10 week training program at Lakeland Correctional Facility.  She is available for adoption & will be ready to go home on 10/16/26.   Sophia is an adorable terrier mix estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old. Weighing just 14 pounds, this sweet little lady has a gentle heart and the most lovable personality. Sophia is potty trained and crate trained, making her an easy companion to welcome into your home. She loves taking leisurely walks around the yard, stopping to sniff every interesting scent she can find, and enjoys the occasional game of tennis ball. Her absolute favorite thing, though? Treats! She’ll even do the cutest little dance in hopes of earning just one more. Sophia would thrive in a calm, low-energy home. Fast-moving dogs and young children can make her feel nervous, which may cause her to growl, so she’d be happiest with a peaceful environment and relaxed companions. No fence? No problem! Sophia walks beautifully on a leash or lead and doesn’t require a fenced yard. Interested in giving Sophia the loving retirement she deserves? Please visit www.trackingintheshadows.com to complete an adoption application. Sophia’s adoption fee is $200. Applicants must live within 2 hours of South Bend. All animals in the home must be spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm prevention. We do not adopt to homes with electric/underground fencing. Once approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet! Approved adopters should be prepared to meet Sophia and bring her home within 1–3 days of approval.   ##2777747##
