Meet Honey: An Independent Queen Looking for a Quiet Sanctuary
At 8 ½ years young, Honey is a tiny Chihuahua with a beautiful, introverted soul. She has a past that has made her wary of humans, but she knows exactly what she wants out of her next chapter: a peaceful, safe place to simply be.
The Magic of Honey:
The Ultimate Peaceful Roommate: Honey isn’t looking for physical affection, cuddles, or pets—and she may never be. Instead, she offers a quiet, gentle presence. Providing a safe haven for a dog who just needs a place to land is a deeply rewarding experience in its own unique way.
A Friend to the Flocks: She absolutely thrives around other animals! Honey currently coexists beautifully with both cats and dogs in her foster home. She draws confidence from her furry friends, so a home with a resident pet to help her feel secure and show her that humans can be kind is exactly what she’s hoping for.
A Beautiful Spirit: She is quick, independent, and fiercely herself. As her foster family perfectly describes her: trying to catch her is "like trying to scoop up moonlight!"
Honey’s Ideal Kingdom: Honey isn’t broken; she’s just writing her own rules. She is looking for a rare "unicorn" adopter who understands that giving love sometimes just means giving space.
Securely Fenced Yard: This is a strict requirement, as she cannot be leashed or carried and has zero recall.
Calm & Quiet: Preferably an adult-only home (no small children) with a predictable, serene environment for her to feel safe.
If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let a tiny queen exist safely and comfortably on her own terms, she's waiting for you!
The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.
We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.
Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!
If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee. It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.
***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.
