Story
Guksoo is still looking for a loving family He is currently fostered in Barrie, ON. Guksoo is a neutered Jindo mix boy who is about 4 years old.He can be shy at first, but slowly warms up over time, and tends to trust women more than men. Deep down he loves people and wants to be with them all the time! When he first came into his foster home, he was very shy but would timidly ask for pets by slowly pawing at the humans. Now, he has become more social and will come up to strangers with a wagging tail to ask for pets and treats! He still continues to paw at his foster parents when he wants attention, and loves to snuggle and give kisses first thing in the morning. He is okay and gentle with kids, but can be startled by sudden movements. After some time, good food, and lots of walks, he will open up and give you lots of kisses and hugs When it comes to other dogs, Guksoo LOVES to play! And especially loves girl dogs. He loves to run and play with his doggy friends and is excited to play with both new and familiar friends. With his foster sibling, he loves to groom her and give her lots of kisses. However, he is still learning that not all dogs like to play, especially on leash, and he can get a bit frustrated when he sees another dog on a walk that he cant say hi to. He is learning how to be neutral to other dogs while walking and responds well to his handler. He has a medium energy level, he loves going for walks and exploring, and rests well once at home. He has a low prey drive and ignores cats when he meets them while on walks, but sometimes likes to chase birds and squirrels. He is currently fostered with bunnies and lived with a cat for a short time, he is very gentle with them and leaves them alone after a quick sniff. On walks, Guksoo can be a bit excited at first but will eventually relax and walk by his handler’s side, occasionally stopping to sniff. He rarely pulls unless he sees another dog or a small animal but is easily redirected. He is fully potty trained outdoors. Guksoo Rarely barks, only when a stranger knocks on the door or if something new startles him. He has no destructive behaviours and can be left alone in the home without any issues. He loves to chew and enjoys playing with his chew toys or a long lasting treat.  Will you welcome this sweet boy into your family? Story
Meet Tommy, a 1-2-year-old neutered male Jindo/lab mix with a handsome brown coat, weighing 16.5kg. Rescued from a city shelter, this independent yet playful boy is looking for a home that appreciates his unique personality and adventurous spirit. Tommy isn’t the type to shower strangers with instant affection—he’s more of a “cool guy” who keeps to himself at first. He won’t go out of his way to greet new people, but if you offer him a treat, he’ll gladly accept it and warm up. Once he decides you’re worth his time, he’ll let you pet him, but at the end of the day, he’s mostly interested in what he wants—food, playtime, or exploring his surroundings. Think of him as a teenage boy with a mind of his own! When it comes to other dogs, Tommy is enthusiastic and eager to interact. He approaches new friends with confidence, sometimes a bit too much! He plays well with dogs who enjoy rough-and-tumble fun, especially those his size or larger, but his bold style can be overwhelming for more reserved dogs. He tends to ignore smaller dogs and doesn’t get along well with other males who act tough despite being weaker. His experience with cats is limited, but he watches them with curiosity during walks. However, if his handler guides him away, he follows without resistance. A cat test can be arranged if needed. Tommy has a moderate energy level—he enjoys outdoor adventures but knows how to relax afterward. Since he’s still young and loves to burn off energy, he’d do best with an active owner who can keep up with his playful spirit. Off-leash, Tommy has his own agenda and may not always come when called. But once on a leash, he transforms into an attentive companion, making good eye contact and engaging well with his handler. While he’s still building confidence in new environments, overall, he walks nicely and follows his person’s lead. Food is a big motivator for Tommy, and while he doesn’t guard his own meals, he’s quick to try and grab food from another dog if given the chance. If the other dog objects, a scuffle could break out, so supervision during mealtime is recommended. He’s crate-trained and generally prefers doing his business outdoors. If you’re looking for an adventurous and playful companion who brings both independence and charm, Tommy might just be the perfect fit for you! Story
Meet Ben, a handsome 5-year-old neutered male Jindo mix with a soft cream coat and a gentle soul. He weighs about 15 kg and has come a long way from his early days. Ben was taken in as a puppy by the owner who kept him confined in a kennel on a small garden plot. When the area was marked for redevelopment and there was no longer space for him, the owner planned to give him away to a dog meat dealer—but luckily, Ben was rescued just in time. Ben is somewhat shy when meeting new people, but if you offer him a treat, he will quickly warm up to you. He gradually becomes more comfortable and allows petting once he feels safe, although he doesn’t show affection right away. While he may seem aloof at first, don’t be fooled—when he sees someone he knows and loves, he gets adorably whiny with excitement. Although he hasn’t fully mastered belly-up cuddles, he greets familiar faces with a bright smile and a gentle wag of his tail. He does well with children under 13, and although he might be a bit tense at first, he can be safely picked up by supporting his belly with your arms. Ben is friendly with other dogs and is happy to greet new pups, but he doesn't jump into play right away. He gets along best with dogs that are similar in size or smaller, and he is particularly nice with younger, more excitable companions, even if they don't always respect personal space. However, he tends to feel overwhelmed by high-energy dogs and may have conflicts with dominant males. If provoked, he might react, so it's important to introduce him to new canine friends carefully. The good news is that Ben is very responsive to people and calms down quickly when guided. Ben does get excited when he sees cats and may try to chase, but he listens well to redirection. Still, because of his prey drive, a cat-free home would be the best fit for him. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys outdoor time, but once the adventure is over, he’s happy to settle down and relax. On walks, he can pull on the leash a bit but follow well his person’s lead and loves to stop frequently to sniff everything in sight—it’s all about the smells for Ben! Although he may growl a bit over food around other dogs, he's perfectly gentle with people during mealtime. Ben is not a barker, rides calmly in a crate, and knows how to hop in and out of the car on his own. He prefers to do his business outside If you’re looking for a loyal, quiet, and steady companion who reveals his affection slowly but deeply, Ben could be the perfect fit for your home.   View more photos and videos on Facebook (Link to Post) or Instagram (Link to Post) Does Ben sound like the right companion for you? Send in your application today here or through our website:adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/ AKR dogs can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston, etc) where we have flight volunteers.
