Hello there, I’m Sammy — a handsome black and tan Chow/Retriever mix, just about a year old and full of quiet charm. I even have adorable black spots on my tongue, which I hear make me quite the conversation starter. 😌🐾I’m a very polite young gentleman who already knows how to sit, walk beautifully on a leash, and keep a tidy home — I’m fully housebroken and crate trained. I’m gentle with older kids and the elderly, and I always try to make people feel comfortable around me.When it comes to other dogs, I can be a bit selective. I have an alpha personality, so if there is another dog in the household, it would preferably be a submissive female. I was picked on before I arrived at the shelter, so I appreciate slow, proper introductions to make sure I feel safe. I haven’t met any young children or cats yet, so that’s still a mystery. 🐕‍🦺✨One of my favorite things in the world is going for a car ride — windows down, ears flapping, the whole experience. And if you like taking photos, well… I do consider myself rather photogenic. 📸💁‍♂️If you’re looking for a loyal, well-mannered companion with a soft heart and soulful eyes, I’d be honored to meet you.****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.Adoption Fees:-$60 for cats-$60 for dogs over 6 years-$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years-$100 for puppies up to 6 monthsCome visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

The votes are IN and we ARE the WINNERS!! Found at the side of a country road (very common dumping ground, next to the railroad tracks), and saved by a wonderful "foster" and her husband and son and other doggy friends :) We started living like REAL loved puppies the day she saved us!! We are learning potty training and are crate trained experts!! We are leash training as well, but you have to understand.... we were never loved, never lived IN a home and NEVER had ANYONE CARE!!! So, potty trained or not, we are over the moon (and so is our foster mom). But now it is time to find our furever homes! We love and play very well together and would be ideal as a pair, but do NOT have to be adopted together. We need another calm and confident dog to keep us happy/played with and to teach us all we need to know about being loved pups :) We are gorgeous pups and our coats will accent your hair :) ADOPT...DON'T SHOP!!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)
