Story
Meet Bogart – A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold He’s handsome. He’s huggable. He’s incredibly sweet. What more could you ask for? Bogart is a beautiful, loving boy who’s patiently waiting for his forever family. With his calm demeanor and affectionate nature, he’s the kind of dog who brings instant peace to any room he walks into. At first glance, some people overlook Bogart because of his large size — but don’t be fooled! He’s a true gentle giant. He walks politely on a leash, never jumps up on people, and is happy just to be near you. He’s as soft in spirit as he is big in body. Bogart recently spent time in a short-term foster home with a sweet female dog named Dixie, where he did wonderfully — showing just how well he fits into a family with other pets. He also rides well in the car and will happily run or walk alongside a bike, making him a fantastic companion for outdoor adventures. He’s a natural with people of all ages. Bogart has participated in pet therapy visits with seniors, where his calm, comforting presence stole hearts. He’s also fantastic with children and would make a loving and loyal family dog. He gets along well with other dogs — even the ones who come on a little strong — and greets new friends with kindness and patience. One of his favorite things in the world? Forehead kisses. Give him a little smooch, and you'll have a best friend for life. If you're looking for a steady, affectionate companion who’s full of love and grace, Bogart is ready to be your gentle rock. Call the Ranch today to meet this sweet soul — he's ready to show you just how perfect a big-hearted pup can be. This dog, as well as several other dogs and puppies, are currently in our program through a special collaboration with Siskiyou County Animal Control. Due to severe overcrowding and limited resources in the region, many shelters are faced with incredibly difficult decisions. Together, we’re working to give these dogs a better chance by finding them loving homes or transferring them to partner rescues. They’re available for adoption just like our Rescue Ranch pups — but because of the urgency of the situation, they may be transferred quickly. If you're interested, we highly encourage you to act fast — they deserve a loving home, and it could be yours! Rescue Ranch puppies are raised through our puppy foster program. They will have met adults, children, often other dogs, maybe cats. 16-week or older puppies will have taken part in our "Reading to Rescue Pups" program and attended many events. When they are at least 8 weeks old, puppies are given a wellness exam by a licensed veterinarian. Before going home, all puppies will have been dewormed and received all age-appropriate vaccinations for parvo/distemper, and Bordetella. If they are 4 months or older they will also have their rabies vaccination. All puppies are also microchipped and registered with 911PetChip. We require spay/neutering of puppies at 6-8 months old (or the appropriate age for giant breeds) by our veterinarian. The procedure is covered by the adoption fee. Alternatively, adopters can choose to have the procedure done by their own vet (proof required), and a portion of the cost will be refunded. All of our dogs receive the best in veterinary care and are spay/neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully vaccinated. The standard adoption donation fee for all dogs and puppies is $300 (unless a reduced fee applies ) APPLY NOW October 9, 2025, 1:48 pm
