Story
Bear-ret Bear-ret is a gorgeous neutered black rough coat male weighing in at approximately 19kg (42lbs) His best feature hands down are his signature doe eyes. He has the ‘but I Love you’ look down pat!  Besides his melt your heart gaze, he is a wonderful ambassador for the breed understanding both French and English commands. Bear-ret is polite, respectful of boundaries such as baby gates…and happy to meet new people. This boy is treat motivated which has made basic training a breeze. He will sit nicely, learning to  go to his mat when asked and is patient at meal-time also  while being groomed at home. Bear-ret enjoys lovely walks on a halti, is good in the car and great recall…in the yard lol. He is a well mannered boy who enjoys to people watch from a window or as we call it, live TV! Bear-ret enjoys attention but doesn’t want to share it with other animals,  In other words, he should be the only pet in the household.  Bear-ret will show you loves  companionship and offers the best “bear hugs”. He will happily  listen to your problems and never complain. He is a good boy, approximately 7 years young, who desperately needs a happy home.   Bear-ret is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and healthy. He is located in Oakville Ontario. Say hello to Simba & Nala… Available for Adoption! Currently in the USA….. working out transport to Canada.   Simba & Nala are two beautiful friendly cream rough coat chows. Together, they escaped from a neglectful, irresponsible backyard breeder. They are both approximately 2 years old, altered, healthy and up yo date on vaccinations. Each did well for their initial medical examination and have warmed up quickly to staff members at the shelter. They are clean, crate trained and enjoy attention. Simba will play fetch while Nala watches for squirrels…. They both will lean in for a pet when they’re not chasing or playing with each other.   These are two very nice chows will fill a home with pure entertainment and joy. They would be happy to be adopted together or make new fiends in a new family or possibly learn to be spoiled as an only pet.  This is all the information we have so far… if you’re interested, please apply at merlinshope.com.   We would be happy to answer detailed questions to serious applicants.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We only respond to serious inquiries. Story
Adopted! Chance Poor guy… here’s his story… Chance is an approximately 9-10-year-old male who was in the care of Animal Services after his owner became critically ill. A social worker involved in the case first contacted Merlin's Hope on Chance's behalf and described appalling living conditions.  Food was so sparse, that he sadly suffers from malnutrition; Chance's only access to water was the toilet bowl. The social worker had taken pity on Chance and after walking him during a few of her visits,  felt that he deserved happier senior years.  Chance and his owner were removed from their home by ambulance and unfortunately during this transfer, an attendant sustained a bite. We communicated with staff members and recieved videos of a happy dog during his mandatory bite hold at Animal Services.  Merlin's Hope usually doesn't accept dogs with a bite history as they may not be adoptable, but because of our understanding of chows and the specific circumstances, we decided to take a chance on Chance! Chance's shelter report described an underweight dog whose sparse coat was not only matted with urine and feces, but somehow also contained blanket fabric and leash bits. Medically an infection was indicated along with skin and tooth issues, but his kidney and liver values are only slightly out of the desired range. The bad news is Chance was deemed to be aggressive at intake and in other shelter and vet interactions. Today we pulled this pitiful-looking guy who otherwise would have been euthanized and started him on a dewormer and antibiotics. Sadly there aren't many people looking for a 10-year-chow with missing fur, a bite history, and other medical issues. We do know that Chance deserves better than to be put down by strangers in a scary environment.  So, we’re giving him a chance to settle in, improve medically, and perhaps even be adopted. Whether he is with us for a day, a week, or a year, so long as he is with Merlin's Hope, Chance will be well-fed and cared for. If his final days are with us, we will make sure that Chance has known love and compassion. Please consider giving Chance a chance. He has been an only dog for a lot of years, so let’s minimize the stress and pray there’s a quiet home with no other pets or children where he can relax and enjoy the rest of his life happily.   Chance is a good listener, walks well on leash, gives paw and enjoys company.  He is a playful boy who just needs to be loved…fed regularly (every day) have fresh water available all the time, and let outside to do his business a few times a day. He’s low maintenance.  If you are willing to open your heart & home, please complete & submit an application form at merlinshope.com      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We only respond to serious inquiries. Story
Here's what the humans have to say about me: Soonjin is a two-year-old male dog, believed to be a Jindo and Samoyed mix, who was rescued from a shelter just before being euthanized. He has a calm and quiet personality and a beautifully thick and soft coat that adds to his charm. True to the Jindo breed, Soonjin is highly loyal to a single owner. He carries himself with a dignified, gentlemanly demeanor, never engaging in fights or barking excessively. He prefers spending time alone rather than socializing with other dogs. However, he is not overly cautious and once trust is established, he enjoys human touch and allows people to pet him without hesitation. His eating habits are also remarkably composed. Instead of eating hastily, he takes his time savoring his food. His approach to people is equally gentle and careful—rather than rushing up excitedly, he quietly sits nearby, waiting patiently, which perfectly reflects his personality. At the training center, Soonjin follows a routine of going outside three times a day for bathroom breaks, resting quietly on his own, and then returning to his space. He might have some accidents inside at first while he adjusts to a new environment, but with patience and encouragement for outdoor potty training, he will adapt well. In a new home, he may initially feel sensitive to unfamiliar surroundings. It’s important to give him ample time to open up rather than trying to rush the bonding process. During walks, Soonjin displays perfect leash manners, walking calmly without pulling. Soonjin is both loyal and dignified and has an unshakable trust and presence. While he may have the typical sensitivity of a Jindo, once he forms a bond and recognizes his owner, he shows affection and becomes a composed yet loving companion.

Story
Noah is a 1.5-year-old mixed breed dog, likely a Jindo mix, with an adorable pattern resembling white socks on one paw and a patch of white fur on his chest. He was abandoned at a shelter as a puppy and was rescued when he was about one year old. After a life in the shelter, he is now enjoying the play and freedom he was deprived of during his early months. Noah loves interacting with people and enjoys playing around with them. He is friendly and gets along well with other dogs, especially those whose personalities match his own. He is a foodie, with a great love for eating. Currently, he’s learning basic commands like ‘sit’ and ‘lie down’, and being quick to pick them up thanks to his intelligence. Noah enjoys walks and, as a young dog, is full of curiosity and energy. However, after enough outdoor activities and playtime, he is happy to rest and relax indoors. He especially loves running and playing in the park or spending quality time with his owner. As a male dog, Noah may mark his territory in new environments, but this behavior is expected to decrease as he becomes more familiar with his space and feels secure. Given his high energy and love for outdoor activities, Noah thrives in an environment that provides ample playtime and walks. With proper training and consistent bonding, he will grow into a loyal and devoted companion.

Story
Somang is a 3-year-old female dog, weighing around 10kg. She is a small, adorable Jindo mix with a heart full of love and affection. Somang has experienced being a mother in the shelter, and although her puppies have found their homes, Somang was sadly at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, she was rescued and is now living at a training center, waiting for a loving family to call her own. Somang is a deeply affectionate dog who loves people. She has no fear of strangers and is always eager to show love to anyone she meets. She’s especially loyal to her owner and cherishes every moment of attention and affection. Her sweet, playful nature means she’s always ready for a cuddle or a fun time with her family. Somang has a food allergy that causes tear stains, but with the right food, her condition will improve, and she will become even healthier. Somang has a peaceful, calm temperament and gets along well with other dogs. She’s not aggressive and enjoys making friends, playing gently with those she connects with. When it comes to walks, Somang can be a bit curious and excited at first, but with time, she learns to walk calmly by her owner’s side. She loves being with her people and enjoys every moment spent together. Somang also loves to play! She can be a bit cheeky and full of energy, but after a fun playtime, she’ll settle down and rest quietly. Her playful yet calm nature makes her an ideal companion for first-time dog owners. Somang has spent most of her time in shelters and training centers, so she hasn’t had much experience in a home yet. She’s still learning about potty training, and there may be a few accidents in the beginning. However, with a consistent routine and a patient owner, she will quickly adapt. Somang loves to follow her owner everywhere and always wants to be by their side. With enough love and care, she’ll become a loyal, sweet companion for life. Somang is ready to find a warm, loving home. If you’re looking for a loving and playful friend to share your life with, Somang will be the most affectionate and loving dog you could ask for!
