Story
Hi, I’m a little Yorkie/Chihuahua mix, and I’m still learning that the world can be a safe place. I came from a difficult situation, and because of that, people can feel very scary to me. Loud voices, sudden movements, or too much attention all at once can make me want to hide. Right now, I’m much more comfortable quietly observing from a distance than being the center of attention. But here’s the important part: I’m trying. With patient, gentle people who speak softly and offer yummy treats, I’m slowly starting to come out of my shell. Every tiny step; staying in the room a little longer, accepting a treat, relaxing just a little more, is a huge victory for me. I’m searching for a very special home: one that is calm, quiet, and predictable, with people who understand that trust takes time and cannot be rushed. I’ll need patience while I adjust, and I may never be the kind of dog who runs up to greet strangers. But when I feel safe, I can form deep and meaningful bonds with the people I love. If you have a gentle heart, a peaceful home, and the patience to let me move at my own pace, I promise I’ll do my very best. Loving me will be a journey, but for the right person, I believe it will be a truly beautiful one.

Story
This dog is a sweet boy who is still learning how to be brave. He was very scared when he arrived, but he allowed handling during his intake. Our volunteers have been able to leash him, pick him up, and carry him when needed. In his outdoor enclosure, he tends to stay toward the back and close to the ground, especially when he feels unsure. He does not immediately seek out human interaction, but will allow familiar volunteers to pick him up and hold him. He is not yet comfortable walking on a leash and can become fearful or avoidant if approached too quickly. He will need an adopter who is patient and understands that building trust and confidence will take time. It may take him many weeks or even months to become comfortable with people and his new surroundings, and he may always be cautious around unfamiliar people. He would do best with an adopter who has experience with fearful or unsocialized dogs and is willing to let him progress at his own pace. His behavior around children is currently unknown, so any introductions should be handled carefully.
