Story
Meet Sophie. She will be 10 in October, so life is slowing down. She’s also deaf. I adopted her from a young couple in March, but wasn’t told she’s deaf. She lost her hearing over a period of time due to ear infections. I simply don’t know how to care for her like she deserves. I was recently in the hospital for 3 days and that was difficult. I’m getting on in years and recognize I tried, but I can’t give her what she needs. Adopter must have a fenced yard and the ability to walk her on a leash if needed. Safety is everything. I prefer someone with experience in caring for a deaf dog. She’s really sweet but not playful. She’s content to nap the day away. Routine is a big thing for her and would do better with someone that’s home most of the time. She quickly learned a couple of hand gestures, especially for “come”. She learns quickly and is highly food motivated. She eats well and enjoys fruits and vegetables. Just not to much!She gets along well with my other dogs and cats.
