Story
Est DOB: 1/24/24 Weight: 11lbs    Bella Rose is the perfect pint-sized companion with a heart full of love. Bella came into rescue with her puppies, while the transition was scary at first, Bella has truly blossomed during her nearly three weeks in foster care and is showing everyone what a sweet, loving little girl she is. When Bella first arrived, she was unsure of her new surroundings and needed a few days to decompress but was soon interacting with people and other pets.   New people can still make her a little nervous at first, but her curiosity and loving nature quickly win out and within a few minutes she moves in for pets and affection. Bella loves attention and is happiest when she's close to her people. Whether she's soaking up cuddles, accepting treats for a job well done, or perfecting her lap dog skills, she wants to be part of the family. She has an adorable habit of hopping into your lap, turning around, and sitting back against you like a small child settling into their favorite chair. It's impossible not to smile when she does it!   She's food-motivated, eager to bond with those she trusts, and has a medium energy level. Bella tends to take her cues from the activity around her, happily joining in when it's playtime and settling down when it's time to relax. She sleeps quietly in her kennel at night and is comfortable being crated when her foster family is away.   Like many dogs who have experienced change, Bella still has a few things she's working on. Leashes can be a little scary, and car rides make her nervous, but she's making steady progress with gentle encouragement and patience. She is occasionally curious about toys, though she hasn't quite figured out how to play with them yet. We think she's saving that discovery for her future family to enjoy.   Bella currently lives in a foster home with several other small dogs and enjoys their company. She seems to do well with most dogs and would likely thrive in a home with another friendly canine companion to help her continue building confidence. She has done well with children as young as 9 years old, though she'll appreciate a family willing to give her a little time to settle in and feel secure. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily curl up in your lap, lean back against you for snuggles, and remind you every day how rewarding a second chance can be, Bella Rose may be the perfect addition to your family.   Please consider making this adorable girl a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at   https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1     $200 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed, age,  and size categorizations are estimates.    If transporting out of state to available locations, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes. August 22, 2026, 4:21 am

Story
Est DOB: 1/24/24 Weight: 10lbs   Colby is a charming Chihuahua / Cocker Spaniel mix (we think) with the softest curls you've ever felt and a heart that's just as sweet. Colby came into rescue with Bella after their family made the difficult decision to surrender them when they could no longer afford their care. As the father of puppies Beenie and Barbee, Colby has already done his part raising a family. Now he's ready for a forever home where he can simply be someone's beloved companion. When Colby first arrived in foster care, he was understandably nervous and unsure of his new surroundings. After a few days of patience and reassurance, his true personality began to shine. Today, he's a loving, playful little guy who enjoys being close to his people and soaking up all the attention he can get. One of Colby 's favorite things in the world is snuggling. Whether he's stretched out beside you on the couch or keeping you company while you work, he thrives on companionship and affection. During the day, you'll often find him snoozing contentedly on a dog bed in his foster mom's office. At night, he happily joins his people on the couch for quality cuddle time. He's also very food-motivated, which has helped him adjust well to his foster home's routines and training. Colby has a medium energy level and tends to follow the mood of the household. When it's time to play, he's happy to join in. When everyone is relaxing, he's equally content to settle down nearby and enjoy the quiet. Colby loves spending time outside on a warm day. He loves stretching out on the deck, scooting his face along the surface, rolling onto his back, and soaking up every bit of sunshine he can find. He's making good progress with potty training and only has occasional accidents in his foster home. Colby sleeps quietly in his kennel at night and can often be found resting comfortably in his crate when his foster family is away. Tell him, "Go to your room," offer a treat, and he'll happily trot right in. Like many dogs experiencing a big life change, Colby is still working through a few fears. Leashes can be intimidating, and car rides currently make him nervous, causing some panting and whimpering. With patience, encouragement, and continued exposure, he's already showing that he's willing to learn and trust. Colby has done well with children as young as 9 years old, though he'll appreciate a family willing to give him a little time to settle in and feel secure. Colby currently lives in a foster home with several other small dogs and gets along well with most canine friends. If you're looking for a gentle soul with adorable curls, a loving heart, and a talent for turning sunny afternoons into pure happiness, Colby may be the perfect addition to your family. ☀️   Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family.
