Story
ABOUT LUCA Luca is a sweet, 7-year-old Coonhound is searching for his forever home with a family who truly appreciates hound life! Luca came to HAP when his previous owners could no longer care for him, but he’s ready to start his next chapter with someone special. While in our care, Luca has made a few doggy friends, though he prefers calm companions who enjoy leisurely strolls and sniff sessions over rowdy play. As a true hound, Luca would do best in a home without small animals, where he can follow his nose without temptation. Luca is a gentle, well-mannered boy who enjoys a peaceful environment. He’s not a fan of young children and would thrive in a quieter home where he can relax and enjoy his golden years at his own pace. He absolutely loves being outdoors, whether it’s long walks, exploring wooded trails, or simply wandering around a yard taking in all the scents. Luca is the perfect balance of mellow and adventurous: happy to lounge by your side, but always up for a sniff-filled outing. If you’re a hound lover looking for a loyal, easygoing companion, Luca just might be your perfect match. He’s patiently waiting to find a home where he can relax, explore, and be loved just as he deserves! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! Story
ABOUT WINSTON Winston is a 2-year-old Hound mix who’s looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Tennessee, where he was found wandering as a stray. Despite being severely underweight, Winston is an incredibly sweet, resilient boy who absolutely loves people. We would love to see him thrive in a foster home, where he can regain his strength and weight! True to his hound nature, his nose is always busy exploring the world around him. He gets along well with other dogs and even cats, making him a great fit for a multi-pet home. Winston would thrive with an active family who can give him plenty of opportunities to sniff, explore, and eventually romp and play, he’d especially love a yard once he’s feeling better. With a little time, care, and good nutrition, Winston is sure to blossom into a happy, energetic companion! **Winston has met children and been friendly, but it is important that adopters with small kids understand Winston's situation before adopting. We believe in full transparency with our adopters, so while he has not displayed any food aggression, we believe if a child was on his level with a snack...Winston would take said snack. Not aggressively, but because he was starved, he is a foodie and gets very, very excited for snacks. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire!
