Story
Hi, I'm Hope. Living here, I've learned the quiet comfort of gentle moments. I'm a bit shy, but give me a little time, and I'll warm up with a sweet, mellow affection. I dream of a peaceful home where I can relax by your side, perhaps enjoying the soft murmur of a calm afternoon. I'm not one for loud adventures, preferring the serene company of someone who understands the value of quiet love. If you seek a companion who will cherish tranquil days with you, I'm here, waiting to share that gentle joy. DOB: 06/30/2023 Adoption fee: $200

Story
Meet Wapiti!Wapiti is a playful, affectionate coonhound/pointer mix with striking good looks and a personality to match. Weighing about 60 pounds and born around January 1, 2024, this young pup is ready to find his forever family. Named after the Shawnee word for white rump elk, Wapiti was found near Elk Creek Lakeand like his namesake, hes a graceful jumper. He can easily clear a 3-foot gate with ease, so a home with a 5-foot fence would be best. He would love to have a canine companion to run and play with in the yard. Wapiti is an active dog who would thrive with a family that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and playtime. Hes also a big fan of belly rubs and couch cuddles, striking a great balance of energy and affection. Smart and eager to please, hes learning his manners and already knows how to sit, come, and lay downhis version of lying down includes a slow, charming slide to the floor. He also has a distinct, endearing howl when he spots squirrels or rabbits. Wapiti gets along best with a submissive dog, as he can be a bit Alpha with toys and bones. He does well with cats in his foster home, though he may chase them when bored. He passed his first visit to doggie daycare with flying colors. While hes not yet a fan of car rides or being crated, his foster family is helping him build confidence through gentle desensitization. Like most young pups, Wapiti enjoys chewing, so a good supply of sturdy chew toys and natural chews is a must. Wapiti is neutered, microchipped, crate trained, and up to date on vaccines. If youre looking for a loyal, active companion with a gentle heart and a goofy grin, Wapiti may be the perfect match. Story
Garland, an 9-month-old 50-pound female Transylvania Hound mix, came in as an owner surrender, along with her sister Twinkle. She is not fixed yet. Both girls entered the shelter in so much fear that they were paralyzed when away from each other. Since spending more time with staff, they have absolutely blossomed and have become social and friendly towards everyone. They still get a little afraid when they feel trapped or when someone moves too quickly around them, but they are getting better at this. Both girls only know the life of a farm and have never experienced different social environments. They will both probably always be more comfortable in a farm environment. They were allowed to free roam, however, it was reported by a neighbor that they may have both been the culprit to a recent chicken heist, but no definitive proof in this accusation. They both have experience living with ducks, pigs and horses. It is not a requirement both Garland and Twinkle are adopted together, but they could be. The $100 adoption fee is SPONSORED. The adopter will be responsible to have the animal spayed or neutered within 90 days at the clinic of their choosing. If this is completed within the required 90 days the adopter is to submit required documentation that includes a spay/neuter certificate, a receipt for the spay/neuter, and a rabies certificate to get their refund of up to the deposited amount. Spay and Neuter is required for adoption per our adoption contract and by Indiana State Law. We do not require in most cases that adopters bring all their families members and dogs for a meet and greet. But we do highly encourage it. We are happy to introduce the new dog to your dog(s) at the shelter. No appointment necessary. We do offer home trials of dogs over 6 months of age for about a week. You will not need to pay the adoption fee (spay neuter deposit) ahead of time, but if you decide to adopt you will need to return to the shelter to complete the paperwork and pay the adoption deposit. If you do not wish to complete the adoption, you can bring the dog back at any time during normal business hours during your home trial period.
