Story
Ellie Mae is a sweet Corgi puppy (born April 2025) looking for a family who would like to play with her, take her on walks and teach her everything she needs to know as she grows.  She is crate trained and friendly with dogs and cats.  Ellie Mae likes to speak her mind and will occasionally dig in the yard as puppies tend to do.  She's doing very well with house training, but still needs to be supervised.  The perfect home for Ellie Mae will have a fenced yard and people who will make sure she gets the exercise she needs. Previous herding dog experience would be a plus!  She has not been around children, so we're not sure how she would do.  Ellie Mae walks okay on her leash, but will benefit from some additional training. The suggested adoption donation for Ellie Mae is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2524853##

Story
About a year ago a coworker of mine had an unexpected litter of puppies. She was in a tough spot figuring out where to home all of them and did not want them all to go to a shelter. I offered to take one of the puppies to help alleviate some stress from having so many. I admit that I was naive about the amount of work that would go into caring for a dog. When I initially got him, I lived with my family and there have recently been some changes in our household. We have people that are moving, and I'll be taking more classes soon while preparing for a nursing program. It essentially would leave Milo at home alone for a significant amount of time. I believe he deserves a home that has someone who can give him time and attention he needs. He has loved being outdoors since he was a puppy, even in the rain and snow! He's energetic, playful, and super smart. He gets along great with my younger nephew (13) who was previously afraid of dogs.
