Story
Meet Steve Steve is a small, young dog, around 10 pounds, who is settling into home life at his own pace. He’s gentle, observant, and calm indoors, and he seems to take comfort in routine and familiarity. At home, Steve is easy to live with. He does well in his crate, sleeps through the night, and spends a lot of his time resting in his bed or near his person. He enjoys toys, especially ones he can occupy himself with, and he’s happy to curl up on the couch for a quiet nap. He’s food motivated and already showing that he learns quickly with consistency. Out in the world, Steve is still adjusting. New sounds, weather, and unfamiliar environments can make him pause, but he doesn’t react or escalate. He watches, processes, and moves forward when he feels ready. Each day, he’s becoming more comfortable with walks, new spaces, and everyday household noises. Steve walks politely on leash, rides quietly in the car, and is comfortable being left alone in his crate. He enjoys the company of other dogs and does best with dog friends who can help him feel more confident and relaxed. He may bark briefly when someone new arrives, then warms up quickly and becomes affectionate and social. He enjoys gentle play, short bursts of energy, and spending time close to his person. Steve would do well in a home that appreciates a quieter dog who forms a strong bond and enjoys being part of a daily routine. He’s a thoughtful little companion who just needs time and consistency to keep settling in.   This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2592147##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bluey is nearly 2 years old and comes with puppy energy.  A gorgeous silky wirehaired piebald dachshund is sure to bring in the applications so please read the complete bio before applying. Bluey is not apartment/condo/townhome appropriate No small children or male dogs. Bluey has a high prey drive and will dig under a fence to get that critter!  NO CATS for this boy. This cutie is really a love bug but still has plenty of puppy energy at 23 months old. He would be great on an agility course He would love a playmate, but it's not a dealbreaker for an active family.  His house training is going great; you just need to keep him on schedule.  Leash training is a work in progress but coming along very nicely. He is neutered, up to date on core vaccines and microchipped. Apply only at:  www.paw-affectionrescue.org Applicants from New England States Only Adoption Fee $650.00 If you have questions that are not answered in the bio please shoot us an email at: pawaffectionrescue@gmail.com    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2025, 2:20 am
