Story
Needs foster / foster to adopt! Kylo Ren is the definition of a gentle, soulful companion—he just needs the right environment to truly relax and be himself. At nearly 7 years old (birthday: April 20 🎂), Kylo is a laid-back, “big lazy boy” who has outgrown the chaos of younger years and is ready for a calm, predictable home. His favorite things? Lounging near his people, chewing on a good bone, and soaking up all the snuggles he can get from the adults he trusts. The important part (and why he needs a foster): Kylo needs a home without children. While he has been a loving and loyal dog, it’s become clear that being around young kids makes him uncomfortable and on edge due to their unpredictable movements. His current family loves him deeply—but they’re making the incredibly hard, responsible decision to prioritize both their child’s safety and Kylo’s wellbeing. This is not a “bad dog.” This is a dog who is asking for a quieter life. Kylo’s highlights: 🐾 Calm, low-energy, and content just hanging out 🐾 Loves adult companionship and snuggles 🐾 Enjoys chewing on bones more than toys 🐾 Has done great with boundaries (used to a wireless fence and respects it!) 🐾 Has successfully lost ~20 lbs and is feeling his best 🐾 Can coexist with another dog, especially with proper introductions Things to know: No young children Unknown with cats May get a little sore with rough play—he’s entering his senior years and prefers a slower pace Kylo doesn’t need much. Just a safe, quiet home… and someone to sit next to. He’s spent years trying to fit into a life that doesn’t quite fit him anymore. Let’s give him the chance to finally exhale. 🤍

Story
NEEDS FOSTER/FOSTER TO ADOPT Walter was found as a stray in Princeton, MN, and is currently waiting in animal control—quietly hoping his story is about to change. And it should. Because Walter is something special. 💛 About Walter: Approximately 5 years old Black & white hound mix Affectionate and gentle—loves to lean in for attention Hard of hearing (responds well to claps or louder sounds) Settling into a routine with ease Calm, easygoing, and incredibly sweet Walter isn’t the kind of dog who demands the spotlight. He’s the kind who simply stays close—steady, comforting, and quietly devoted. The kind of companion who makes a house feel like home. Right now, Walter is still waiting for his next step. In order to leave animal control and come into rescue, he needs a committed foster or foster-to-adopt home lined up. 🐾 What he needs: A safe place to land once his stray hold ends. Northern Lakes Rescue will cover vetting and provide supplies—you provide the love and stability. He’s done the hard part. He made it this far. Now he just needs someone to say yes. If you can foster or are interested in giving Walter the life he deserves, please reach out.
