Story
Anastasia and Tatiana MUST be adopted together. There are NO exceptions Adoption Fee: $1,100.00 for the pair. In most bonded pairs of cats usually you can differentiate them by their behavior. These two girls are the exception to that. They kind of a tag team, varying day by day , which one is going to be more outgoing, more eagerly affectionate, more brave with strangers than the other. It's hard to find some easy difference. So at 7.8 pounds Tatiana is a pound and a half heavier than Anastasia's 6.2. That's easy . We don't know their exact ages but Anastasia was 4.8 pounds when she arrived last year so she probably was barely one year old, if that much, back then . I would guess Tatiana who has also gained weight is a little older than Anastasia, she seems like a big sister.. These two came from the closing cattery of a breeder who found running the business not as much fun a (more work ) than she expected. You may remember Alice and Olivia, also Devon Rexes, who came from the same breeder. Most likely these two are were born abroad and purchased as kittens. They have grown into wonderfully affectionate, fascinating kitties in the time we've fostered them. Tatiana's eyes look blue in some photos and green in others. She has the high drama coloring of a calico. Anastasia's eyes are much more green or green hazel. Her soft colors are more uniform, she's a beautiful dilute calico. She has a quicker nature than Tatiana who has a bit more of the couch potato in her . Both are likely to be friendly to strangers. Both are very playful. Anastasia just really loves to bend her head down to put it in your hand . I have lots of pictures of that. It is so sweet.Tatiana ,not to be outdone, shows you she loves to lie in your lap to be cuddled. Anastasia seems to especially enjoy being carried around on a shoulder.. If you're interested in adopting this pair, you really need to be a person who enjoys cuddling kitties because these two are not shy. They really want to give and receive love. (what could be finer!) Maybe late at night while you are watching movies. Nice image. These two are just total fun. They're playful, curious,easy-going, good natured cats -each with a unique appearance. Often called" Pixie cats" because of the unusual shape of their head this breed was developed from a spontaneous, genetic mutation in the late 1950s in England, hence the name Devon. Lovers of these cats take great pleasure in the odd and peculiar things that happens to the fur and whiskers of their pets. The whiskers and eyebrows are often almost nonexistent, sometimes curly and twisted, often only 3/4 of an inch or less long. The short wavy, soft coat on a Devon kitty may develop bare patches that come and go over time for no particular reason. This eccentric weirdness of coat and whiskers is a status symbol treasured by Devon owners and considered very desirable and special. These young kitties have been very healthy with us. We clean their eyes periodically- Anastasia every two weeks and Tatiana, every four. Their ears are easy to clean for obvious reasons. They are perfect with their litter box. There have been no trouble. Along with all the others from this Breeder, we Idexx lab tested them for a number of things. Tatiana tested positive as a carrier of the calici virus. This is an upper respiratory cold virus in the same category as the herpes virus, which is much better known. She shows no symptoms at all and we wouldn't have expected it, but cats can have it latent in their body. Without the test, their owners wouldn't even know it's there. Almost every cat alive is positive for the herpes virus having had a cold at some point . You and I probably have latent herpes virus cells in us. This is part of life. The calici virus is less well known but similar. Tatiana's immune system may deal with it and get rid of it forever, or ignore it and it may stay latent and hidden in her. Or if her immune system was weakened, from some other ailment for example, it may come out and show itself as a cold. I think there are many different strains of Calici virus. some worse than others. In the FVRCP vaccination the R is for rhinovirus, which is herpes., and the C is for Calici. I'm not trying to overwhelm you with too much information. If you're curious, you can look on the web . Anastasia tested negative for Calici, but they've been together so much it could be that it's undetectable in her or perhaps her immune system has taken care of it. It is contagious. These two are so bonded they are staying together. Just be to be careful of other kitties, I would not put Tatiana and Anastasia around other cats in a home. They need to be the only cats in their new family's home. Please note: this virus is NOT contagious to humans or dogs. Sorry if this is more info than you feel you need.( I come from a family of teachers ) OK. To get back to these cuties- these two are looking for a home with humans who are home much of the time. Children over 3 feet high would be fine playmates for them. I don't know how they are with happy, respectful dogs, but it would probably be fine and what fun to watch them playing together. Devon Rex's have a huge following of devoted, maybe slightly eccentric, Devon cat owners. These two are great kitties. Fun to look at, fun to watch , fun to play with ,and fun to cuddle with. It is fairly rare that they show up in Rescue. Some family will be so lucky to have their entertaining, loving company and unique pixie looks. Anastasia is fostered by Harriet in Santa Cruz, California. Anastasia is: Neutered/Spayed, Vaccinated, FELV Tested, Dewormed, Microchipped, Wet Food, Dry Food, Litter Box Perfect Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish them and create an ideal forever home. If you believe you are a perfect adopter for Anastasia please tell us why in the comments section of our Adoption Application, and contact Harriet at harrietluvskitties@yahoo.com. If you are unable to reach Harriet please email info@purebredsplus.org. NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!
