Story
Florence, aka Little Momma, is a female black with tan min pin mix or something similar. She is around 9 years old and she weighs about 12 pounds. Florence is recently spayed, teeth cleaned, and vaccinated including rabies. Florence is heartworm positive and has started the slow kill treatment protocol. Florence is ready for adoption. Florence came to rescue from a shelter in the four states area. Her teeth are worn completely down in front from some unknown cause. Florence proved quickly that she is interested in being a companion to some lucky person. Florence likes men and women, leaning a little toward the fellas. She gets along with other dogs but isn’t friendly to cats. Florence is potty trained, willing to kennel, walks fine on a leash. She is looking for a lap or shotgun seat for life as a best friend. Adoption fee is $200. We only accept applications for a specific dog you are interested in adopting. We do not keep waiting lists or files of general applications for dogs we might get later. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet. We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.

Cocoa’s story began in a heartbreaking way—left on our doorstep in a tiny carrier she couldn’t even turn around in, along with a note that read: “My name is Cocoa. I was found and I am pregnant and I need help finding a good home.” Despite everything she’d been through, Cocoa’s resilient spirit shined through. Just one week after arriving, this brave girl gave birth to five beautiful, healthy babies. Our vet believes Cocoa was likely pregnant during her very first heat cycle—meaning she was still just a puppy herself. Today, we estimate her to be around a year old. Cocoa has blossomed into a happy, affectionate young dog. She’s full of puppy energy—playful, bouncy, and sometimes a bit hyper—but she is incredibly sweet and eager to love. She enjoys playtime, cuddles, and being near her humans. Cocoa is ready for a forever family who will give her the love, structure, and joy she’s always deserved. After everything she’s overcome, she deserves nothing less than a home where she will finally feel safe, valued, and adored. If you’re looking for a loving, lively companion with a heart of gold, Cocoa may be your perfect match! All of our adoptable animals are up to date on routine vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered.  If the animal is too young a certificate for the spay/neuter is included in the adoption fee.  Please Click Here to complete our online adoption application.
