Story
I rescued Porter from a young couple that had posted him on Facebook. They were no longer to care for him so I brought him into my home when he was four months old. He just recently turned a year on December 16th. In my family's settings, we have two young children and two other dogs. Porter is extremely food driven, which can be an issue around young children. He is very intelligent on his commands, but lacks personal boundaries around children when food is in the setting. For example, when anyone in the house is eating he has a hard time understanding the personal boundaries and will continue to be food driven. He is not aggressive, but will not respect personal space. This can be an issue around the two young children. Unfortunately, through the hard work we have not seen improvement in his behavior around this has caused the children to be scared of him. He is very loving and energetic. He has not shown any signs of aggression since being in my care.

Hello! I'm Achilles. No, your eyes are not deceiving you - I'm a Doberman. A very handsome, distinguished one at that, or so I've been told. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh 100 pounds. I'm a big boy! My person had to move into an assisted living facility and unfortunately they don't allow pony-size dogs there so I'm hoping to find my new forever home soon! I like humans and am very affectionate. I will nudge your arm for pets and lean against you for back scratches. I'm really smart too and know how to sit, stay and down. I'm also crate trained and potty trained. I'm ready to go! I enjoy running around and playing fetch outside and then settling in for snuggles. I do request that I be your only pet. I didn't grow up with other dogs (I lived in the country and was king of my domain and I clearly don't appreciate other dogs in my space - and no cats for me please). I've met older kids 10 years of age and up and they think I'd do fine with older kids who can handle my size. Fill out an application for me and let's see if we're a match!
