Story
In  late January Thelma’s family asked for help when she and her sister Dogue de Bordeaux  were not getting along. Thelma had no training and we suspect that and a lack of structure added to the problem with Thelma and her sister.Thelma is doing great and is ready for her furever home!  She has responded very well to the training and structure she has received in her foster home.   She can now walk on leash and she gets along fantastic with the male Doberman in her foster home.  Any potential home for Thelma should continue training with her.  When out and about she will definitely pull if she eyes other dogs, cats, birds, squirrels etc.  Her new person will need to provide her with consistent handling while on walks. Thelma’s new home will need  a secure fenced yard where she can get plenty of exercise.  No apartment complexes or urban environment.  Thelma loves her people so be ready to give her the attention she loves and deserves. Homes with a male dog of similar size will be considered.  No children under the age of 14 years. All rescues in the care of  Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro chipped before being placed into their adoptive home. Completed application, vet reference and a home check required. Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue does NOT ship or fly rescues as it’s too stressful on them. Story
Please meet Rupert! Rupert is a 2 year old male being fostered in CT.  He is crate trained and housebroken.  He is a young, active, healthy, strong boy that loves to play and get some exercise every day.   His favorite things are squeaky toys along with treats that his foster home is using for training.  He has very good house manners. He is learning some basic obedience such as sit, stay and leash walking.  He gets along with other med to large dogs and has been playing in the foster home with the resident dogs.  No small dogs or cats. He is a very strong boy physically and mentally.  He needs someone that has prior working dog experience and would be able to continue with his basic training and leash walking.  A secure fenced yard is needed so he car run around without always being on leash.  He is very sweet boy and we know he will continue to flourish with the right family.  Any children in the home must be over the age of 13 years.   All rescues in the care of  Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro chipped before being placed into their adoptive home. Story
Three year old Manji is ready for his forever family. Manji likes belly rubs, chewing antlers, being kissed on the cheek, car rides and drinking out of the hose. He is crate trained. He has been working on his leash manners but does still pull. His foster family adores him and would love to adopt him but they have a male Dogue de Bordeaux and the two do not always get along. Manji does not do well with small dogs, he could be placed with a female dog simalar in size. Cats are unknown.  He may be placed in a home with children six and over. Manji was likely mistreated prior to coming into our care. Certain movments of adults casue him to cower and scamper away. When he first arrived he was afraid of the dark and he would bark and bark if left alone overnight. A member of his foster family slept on the floor next to him for weeks until he felt safe, now he rarley barks. Manji has gained a great deal of confindence living with a loving family.   While in our care Manji had a benign melanocytoma removed from his face and blepharoplasty surgery on both eyes to correct entropion (eye lids rolling in) and macroblepharon (to place the lids in normal position). He has completly recovered and needs no further care.   All rescues in the care of  Dogue de Bordeaux Rescue are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and micro chipped before being placed into their adoptive home. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  DOB: 08/02/2017 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: His size or smaller Okay with cats: No Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 75 lbs Food Fed: Raw Bistro Requires a fenced yard:   No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello! My name is Zeus and I have one of the most handsome faces you will ever see! I came to MN from a shelter in Arkansas and I’m so happy my friends at Underdog are taking such great care of me! I wasn’t in the best shape and my dear foster family is feeding me healthy foods, giving me medicated baths to take care of my skin issues and helping me heal. You would not believe how much my skin has healed and how amazing it feels to have healthy fur!  When I came, I had very little fur and my vet team thinks I was eating bad foods (maybe from eating off the streets) and was malnourished.  They also think I was having issues that were caused from past over use of antibiotics because some meds we tried didn't seem to phase me.  I don't recall my full past, so it's been quite the journey, but this new life full of love and attention is just SO great! I cant wait for my own forever family to find me.   I am great with all the other dogs in my foster home – there are an assortment of dogs and I am a very gentle and good boy with everyone. I like to clean their ears and be near my friends. I love to play with dogs my size, but because my medication I can become a little overstimulated over food or super yummy treats so will need to be supervised. I was very malnourished before coming to Underdog so put a lot of value on my food. To help with this, all the dogs in my foster home are fed separately. Speaking of meal time – I do have a special diet so my skin issues don’t flair up again. I like Raw Bistro beef or bison. My foster family has tried so many foods before they found one that wouldn’t irritate my skin. We tried kibble, canned food, vet prescribed food and thankfully found a quality raw food. I love it! I will need my forever family to continually monitor my skin issues and be in touch with a vet if I start to have flair ups again. My ideal home would have dogs my size or smaller that will respect my space when I have food or treats. I don’t really like getting bossed around so a dog that doesn’t demonstrate dominate traits would be a good match. I am doing great with all my dog skills – I am crate trained and potty trained. But … I have a little secret. I do dribble a little pee when I sleep so my people put a potty pad in my bed just in case. Embarrassing, right? I’m trying my best but likely it is because my medications. I don’t need a fenced yard in my forever home but would appreciate it so we can run around the play. All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a big ol’ dog bed for me to relax. Can’t wait to meet you! Read more about my preferred food here:  https://dogfoodreviews.com/raw-bistro-dog-food-reviews/raw-raw-bistro/raw-bistro-grain-free-beef-recipe-raw-dog-food/ *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
