Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application Looking at Diesel today you would not see the emaciated backyard dog he was when he came to us. What you will see is a happy, handsome Dogue De Bordeaux. The name Diesel belongs to an unloved, forgotten dog; this handsome, sensitive dog deserves a new name given to him by his new loving family. HISTORY: A good Samaritan saw a skinny dog and asked if he could have the dog. Unfortunately, even too thin Diesel was too big for an apartment, luckily the good Samaritan found Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue. On the drive to his foster home Diesel had a deep cough that was worrisome. His initial vet visit ruled out heart worms but his bloodwork indicated a slightly elevated marker that could indicate a heart issue. The Veterinarian’s staff recommended a cardiologist that was able to rule out any heart issues but their x-rays showed bronchitis. More extensive x-rays confirmed bronchitis due to allergies. MTM happily spent well over $1500 ensuring that Diesel simply has an allergy that is easily managed with one medicine a day. PERSONALITY: Diesel is the full package. He is calm, gentle, loving and cuddly. He is open and friendly with every human and dog he meets and he loves kids. The foster family he’s staying with took in a senior dog and Diesel instantly accepted her as a friend. They often sleep touching each other. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Diesel loves ear rubs, belly scratches and living indoors. Diesel enjoys the mattress in his crate and will go there to sleep during the day. MEDICAL ISSUES: As is typical with Mastiffs Diesel has a chicken allergy. He is also allergic to something environmental that had him suffering with ear infections and hair loss. Since going on Apoquel Diesel’s ears are clean and his coat is a gorgeous deep, healthy red. Diesel will need a chicken free diet and Apoquel to stay the healthy, handsome boy that he is, but that is a very small price to pay for the joy he will bring to his forever home. Diesel has put on 20 pounds since coming to MTM and is now a healthy 121 pounds. Diesel has been neutered. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: For all that he’s been through, Diesel is a remarkably calm and balanced dog. He’d be fine as an only dog but loves to play so a housemate or friend to play with would be great too. He is comfortable both crated or free in the house. Diesel is a wonderful, loving dog. He is a playful couch potato, he loves to lay touching his human but also sleeping alone in his crate. He loves car rides and meeting people. He makes everyone he meets smile and will warm your heart every day.Click here to watch a video of Diesel.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. She loves to snuggle and sleep close - she'll happily snooze in or beside the bed. This playful girl is dog friendly and loves to have fun with her foster sibling, an English Bulldog. Story
Cooper had a family that unfortunately was evicted and had to surrender him on Dec. 7, 2025 to the NYACC shelter due to the fact dogs are not allowed in a homeless shelter. We saved Cooper on January 30th, 2026 from the NYACC's euthanasia list. Cooper was a scared pup when we first got him. But now has flourished! A very social pup, Cooper also loves walks, play, eager to learn new things, and laying on the couch with you. Please give this mushy fellow a chance to brighten up your home!
