Story
This gorgeous giant girl is Big Momma! This sweetheart is a lover to her core, she adores people, she’s wonderful with children and other dogs. Patient, considerate, tolerant, mellow, she’s a dream dog. The term “gentle giant” was invented for girls like Momma, she brings a truly magical sense of calm to every room she sets paw in. She’s a rescue favorite, beloved the moment we laid eyes on her. We suspect Big Momma to be a Dogue de Bordeaux, American Bully mix, around 6 years old. She is a rescue so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. She weighs in at a whopping 111 pounds, but she’s so kindly mindful of her size. She doesn’t knock over kids or plow through our legs- she’s just a lovely, big, sweet companion to all. Big Momma is great in her kennel, completely non-reactive, finding peace in her solitude. She can usually be found lying down in her kennel, but will stand up, approach you, and patiently wait for the leash once she realizes you’re getting her out of the kennel. Here at the rescue, Big Momma doesn’t have any indoor accidents, we believe her to be fully potty trained. At the vet, Big Momma is incredibly patient and tolerant, she holds still and appreciates her post-check-up treats. She loves her outside time too, whether it’s basking in the sun or tromping through a puddle, Big Momma is just happy to breathe the fresh air. She would make an excellent hiking, or camping buddy. Big Momma does have a complicated relationship with Mother Nature though- she has a pretty extreme fear of thunder. She doesn’t want to move once she’s heard a roll of thunder over head; she shuts down, quietly trembling. She doesn’t try to escape, bark or pace, she’s really a good girl even when she’s in the worst of states. Momma is great with other dogs and she’s very friendly with them! She’s a bit of a dog-watcher when she plays in groups of dogs! Rather to be in the center of attention, lovely girl likes to sniff other pups by saying “Hello”walks around them or just watching them play! With humans, Big Momma isn’t overly interested in play, she doesn’t have a ton of interest in toys, but she’ll humor you occasionally and play a bit. She’s so gentle when she plays with us, with slow movements and so much care. We suspect that Big Momma will blossom in her forever home, and become more playful with people than she’s been here at the rescue. The play we’ve seen so far has been so calm that we’re confident she’ll always be a respectful player. With kids, Momma is excellent at reading their body language and adjusting accordingly. She seems to have a full grasp of her size and all of its implications, including the “scary factor” it can have for little ones. When kids don’t want to engage with her, she’s happy to leave them be. When kids are excited to meet her, she basks in the love. She’s incredibly sweet with them, she would make an amazing family dog. Big Momma does have cropped ears, which will deter some adopters, unfortunately. Cropped ears come with stigmas from all angles, but ultimately, the dogs are the ones who pay. Big Momma will need her ears cleaned with some regularity, but that is the only way in which her cropped ears will affect her life post-adoption. Here at the rescue, she is wonderfully still, calm and patient while we clean her ears. For more information on adopting dogs with cropped ears, search for #AdoptTheCropped on your preferred social media platform. Big Momma would do best in a feline-free home, but she’s not too picky about anything else! We believe she would do well in a single dog or multiple dog household, as a family dog or a companion to a single person. If you’re looking for a big dog, with a sweet, calm personality, tons of patience and tolerance, and a go-with-the-flow attitude, Momma is your girl. We are willing to test this sweet girl with anything you need us to in order to ensure she’s the perfect match for you. If you have any questions about her, please reach out to her adoption coordinator, who would be thrilled to have a discussion with you about this sweet angel girl. Meet Momma in person in Friendswood, Texas, or virtually via video chat to get to know her better. This beautiful girl has waited 6 years to meet her forever family, don’t make her wait any longer than she needs to- apply to adopt Momma today! Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco  • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Story
Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) 6 years old Female 118 pounds Kids · 10+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No M.I.A. or better known as “missing in action.” Lemme tell ya, being M.I.A. stinks, I’ve been missing all that family action stuff. You know, cuddling action, walks action, following you around everywhere you go action, treat action... Oh, so you’ve heard that being in rescue isn’t so bad. Well OK, I’m not being totally honest—I get cuddles and walks and treats here at Family Dogs…but not as much as I’d get in your home! Now, I’m a real sweet lady, affectionate and loyal as can be. I’m looking for a family with lots of love to give, since I too happen to be a gal with a lot of love to give. I also need a family willing to give me plenty of TLC and provide me with my special food. I do well with sturdy, respectful children 10+, and other dogs, abut no kitty cats for me. Oh, I must not forget…I’m totally crate trained! All this and I am still M.I.A. … missing in action from your heart, that is! My adoption fee is $200 and includes microchip & registration, spay, reduced-cost training class, 1 month pet health insurance for Oregon residents , free veterinary exam, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.
