Story
Hi! My name is Reece aka Rea and I am looking for a new home! I am currently in foster because shelter life is not for me. You see, I can be a bit fearful, so my cage presence is not the best. I am; however, a very sweet girl and I VERY loyal to my people! During my first few days in foster, I have done pretty well! I definitely prefer male dogs, but getting along with the female in the home now.... I just needed to be put into my place and I learned to back off really quick! I can cohabitate with a female, but I would definitely a male to rough house with . That being said, I have not bothered the cats in the home and, while it was pretty weird to see them, I did well with the chickens and the geese at the home in the beginning... that has changed now as I have found that it is SUPER fun to chase them. I was none too sure about the 12 year old boy in the home, but I quickly figured out that he was not going to be afraid of me... then I found out that he is pretty comfy to lay on, so I guess he is okay! As a matter of fact, I think I really like him! I would definitely like to live in a home with older, dog savvy children. I am the kind of girl that will take advantage of you if I think you are fearful of me. I have met with some younger, not so dog savvy, children and I was not a fan. I can be a bit shy and that shyness can make me react aggressively with fear. I need a home with someone who has experience with dogs like me and who has the confidence to handle me. Once I know that I can't take advantage of you, I show the ultimate respect! If I think I can get over on you, I am going to though. I am very smart... too smart. I am housebroken and am pretty mellow in the home. I do love to run and play and I have been known to bounce around on the furniture, but my foster said it's okay because my big foster bro usually starts it! I am SUPER smart and willing to learn; being food motivated only helps. My foster thinks that I am a Mastiff/Hound cross. I show guardian characteristics in the sense that I will guard my home and you will certainly know if someone if there that should not be, but I am also super goofy, springy and I have a super Hound like bark. Whatever mix I may be, just know that adopting me will afford you a best friend and a loyal companion for life.I have been meeting more and more people! My foster finds that it is easiest to introduce me to people who are completely ignoring me. I like to bark and carry on, but if you ignore me, I get offended and must find out why! That ends up with you giving me all the pets because that is all that I really want! I am a loving gal and I just want a family that will love me. In return, I will give you all of my loyalty, love and protection! If you would like to meet me, please reach out to my foster at smithkb@nnva.gov!I will be required to meet with all family members and dogs in the home. Again, I would do best in a home with a MALE dog.If you are looking for a LOYAL, PROTECTIVE, GUARDIAN type lady, this girl fits the bill. Someone who has experience with Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Cane Corsos, Presa Canarios... those are the kind of people I am looking to go home with.

Story
One of our volunteers recently took Drumstick on an Expawdition- here's how their day went!If you're looking to adopt someone who happens to be a local celebrity AND has the softest head you'll ever pet- my buddy Drumstick is the pup for you. ????He did excellent on his big debut this morning for 97.3 The Eagle with @973stephanie. He remembered all of his lines and was sure to be a gentleman the whole time he was in the studio. ?????After he finished his #furryfriday segment, we headed to Cookout to celebrate a job well done with some nuggets! We also split a watermelon milkshake. He dove his snout into the cup and slurped it up until the last drop. ?? The whole time we were in the car, Drumstick was happy to curl up and enjoy a snooze in the back seat. He was a great passenger. He also settles into a walk nicely- no pulling and handles great on the leash. ??Drumstick was very friendly with everyone we met and took each treat very gently (even the tasty nuggets). He allowed all handling so I think he would do great in a family with kids who can be respectful! ???????????Drumstick found his way to the shelter as a stray so not much is known about his past. The vet estimated him to be about 8 years young which means he's old enough to have manners but still has plenty of time for adventures with his forever family. ??Drumstick and I had the best time today, he's hoping these fun afternoons can continue with people of his very own to love and take care of. ??Drumstick would love to find his forever family but he would also be grateful to land a spot in foster care! This option is great for people who aren't ready for the commitment of adoption but still want to help give dogs like Drumstick a break from the tough environment of the shelter. ??Fostering is completely free. @peninsula_regional_shelter provides the food, supplies, and medical care, all you need to provide is the love and the home. ????#PRASdogsarethebest #adoptdontshop
