Story
Queenie is just a sweet senior lady looking for her forever home! She loves to lounge on the bed with her person soaking up all the love she can. Don't let her age and friendly demeanor fool you, this girl is no push over! She does not like being messed with and will make sure she gets her way any chance she can. One look in her adoring eyes, and you'll let her get away with it, though!   Do you remember the FIV positive kitty we took in from the Montezuma 23? Their owner had been rescuing from the local reservation for 20+ years. Unfortunately, he had no plan in place for after he passed, so these animals were left alone with nowhere to go. That is, until we stepped in. Most of the 23 have been adopted, fostered, or placed with other rescues. "Sick Cat" as they called her, had been isolated in a trailer because of her illness. As you can see in the last photo, she was so desperate for attention she was climbing the rafters in an attempt to get us to notice her. It worked, and she came into Denkai's care. We took her to our vet as soon as we could, and it was confirmed she is in fact FIV positive. She was also covered in mats, had overgrown toenails, and horrible teeth. She was given injectable antibiotics, but her rotten teeth have continued to cause problems. Her eyes have been swollen and runny. Despite her age, she can get real feisty when you try to do anything she doesn't want you to. Now in a foster home where she has been renamed Queenie, she is headed in today for dental work. We're guessing the few remaining teeth she has will have to be extracted, and she will be given additional antibiotics to clear up any infection that she is still fighting. This will probably cost a few hundred dollars, but we will update later when the official bill comes in. Queenie could sure use some sponsorship help to pay for her surgery today. She would also appreciate any donations of wet food, since that's all she'll be able to eat from now on.
