This is Nickie! She’s a 60 pound terrier mix who was born around 3/24/24. Nickie has completed her job as a mama and has skillfully raised all her pups, so now she’s looking for a home of her own. She is up to date on her vaccinations and heartworm negative. This wonderful lady deserves the bestest home of her very own. And you have the opportunity to provide that for her. Nickie is an excellent companion and a fantastic overall dog. She would fit perfectly into any home… so how about it? Why not set up a meet and greet with this girl now. Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee. Story
Benson is a senior dog, allegedly 14 years old. I rescued him from Ann Arbor Humane Society in 2019. They estimated his age to be about 7 at the time. We have been together since. Benson has lived with other dogs in the past and did fairly well. He has become a grumpy old man with younger male pups, but gets along well with the lady dogs. He has lived with two cats as well for a couple years. I have come to a point with work where I am moving and cannot take him with me. It breaks my heart but I got to do what I got to do. Benson does have pretty bad separation anxiety, which has caused some house accidents. Ideally, he needs someone who has time for him. He loves walks, hikes, and car rides and enjoys exploring. Terrified of bodies of water. He has a surprising amount of energy for “14 years old.” He is pretty good with commands and very good motivated. He hasn’t been to the vet in a while. He has lipomas on his face and random spots on his body but they don’t seem to bother him.

Ponzi is a 2yr old spayed female Foxhound. She weighs 49 lbs. Ponzi was transferred to us from an animal shelter. Ponzi is a happy, playful and funny girl. She keeps us laughing all day long. She has a great personality and a good energy level. She is just a touch shy but overcomes it quickly. She has discovered how fun life can be and is wasting one minute of it. She enjoys romping in the yard and traveling o new places. She also loves cuddle time and will happily curl in your lap for nap time. She is a sweetheart who will be a great family companion. She came to us with Princess who we believe is her mom. We would love to see them go to a home together but if you have the right family we will consider splitting them up. She has been great with other dogs and children. We are unsure about cats. She might need help with house training. She is up to date on shots and wormed. She is already spayed. She would love to be your hiking or camping partner. She is very kind and gentle. She came to us with Ponzi who we believe is her daughter.
