Story
Charlot may be a special-needs pup, but don’t let that fool you—this little guy lives life with more heart and determination than most. With the help of his wheelchair, Charlot zips around with confidence and joy, proving every day that nothing can hold him back from having fun or spreading love. He’s a people-lover through and through, greeting everyone with bright eyes and an eager wiggle. His sweet spirit shines in everything he does—whether he’s proudly showing off his wheels, snuggling close for affection, or carrying around his favorite toys like tiny treasures. Charlot doesn’t dwell on challenges; he simply embraces the world as it is, happy to be part of it. He’s resilient, loving, playful, and so ready to be someone’s special boy. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $200 and you can adopt me at www.polkadogz.org. ##2592008##

Story
Meet Watson Doyle, a sweet senior French Bulldog with special needs. Watson has a unique swagger due to some mobility issues from arthritis and possibly an old injury to his right side. Even though he has limited vision, he gets around really well and doesn't bump into things. He seems to be able to see things that are close to him better.    Watson’s favorite times of day are naptime, mealtime, and bedtime. He loves back rubs and scratches. He doesn't mind being gently picked up and carried. He likes sitting with you sometimes but he's also mostly content to just be nearby in a dog bed. He can be vocal and will bark and howl occasionally. He may also whimper a little and wag his tail if he smells something tasty he’d like for you to share. As he's gotten more comfortable in his foster home, he’s started trotting to his foster mom when she gets home from an outing or when she’s got his food bowl ready. He’s such a special little guy that deserves to be pampered the rest of his life!   The Basics Age: Estimated 8 - 9 yrs old Weight: 17 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Yes, but may have accidents if left alone for long periods or if he walks to the door a few times and no one notices.  Crate-Trained: Not desired, does better left alone in a gated space. Leash Skills: Does okay on a leash, but better to carry him long distances.  Medical: Has limited vision and requires Tacrolimus eye drops twice a day and artificial tear drops as needed. Takes Vetprofen for pain/inflammation twice a day. Has some sensitivity in his backend, especially around his tail. Recent labs were good. Had a growth removed that was hanging from his chest - our vet felt it was slow growing and of no concern.    Likes/Dislikes  Toys: No interest in toys or chewing bones Other Animals: Seems to like the company of other animals. He's living with several other dogs in his foster home and has sniffed at a few of them and wagged his tail but hasn't engaged much otherwise.  People/Kids: Sweet with all, but needs a typically low key home  Car Rides: Usually sleeps on car rides. Separation: May bark or howl if he's aware you're leaving or have left him alone. His foster family usually lets him settle in a dog bed before they sneak out of the house.   Contact/Application Info  Questions? Contact his foster, Amber, at amber@bostonterriertn.org. Current location: Near Abingdon, VA Adoption Fee: $275 Ready to Apply to Adopt? Visit www.bostonterriertn.org!Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions. The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma. We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them. Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.October 1, 2022, 10:21 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Stella – A Special Girl Looking for a Special Home  STOP!!! please make sure you read about Stella and her special needs bfore applying. When Stella arrived at PRBJ, she was in urgent need of medical care. Thanks to the dedicated team at Healthy Pets and the compassionate hands of Dr. Pinzon, Stella began her journey to healing. With a carefully tailored treatment plan — including daily allergy medications, steroids, antibiotics, and laser therapy — Stella’s skin and ear conditions began to improve. But that was just the beginning.A Fighter with a Gentle Heart Stella was also diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) — a condition that affects the spine and is common in French Bulldogs. It occurs when the discs between the vertebrae bulge or herniate, causing pain and mobility issues. Stella has trouble controling her hind legs at times and is also has incontinence due to this condition.   To help manage this, Stella receives ongoing chiropractic care and physical therapy with Dr. Dana at The Animal Cracker. Despite all she’s been through, Stella remains incredibly sweet and loving. She enjoys being near her people, gets along well with other dogs, and has a gentle nature that makes her a joy to be around. What Stella Needs Stella is looking for a calm, understanding home — one that’s prepared to meet her special needs with love and diligence. Her ideal home includes: No small children (due to her medical condition and need for a calm environment) Limited physical activity — no jumping off furniture or rough play Ongoing care for her skin, ears, and IVDD (medications, checkups, and therapy) Patience with potty accidents — her condition can make house training a challenge no stairs someone that works from home or gone very limited amount of time due to her incontinence no apartment living or shared walls - she is very vocal  Why Adopt Stella?  Because Stella is more than her medical needs. She’s resilient, affectionate, and full of heart. She deserves a second chance with someone who sees her not just as a dog with a condition, but as a loving companion with so much to give. If you’re experienced with special-needs dogs or are ready to provide the extra care Stella needs, you’ll be rewarded with unwavering love and loyalty. Could you be the one to give Stella the safe, supportive home she’s been waiting for? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Pepper – A Sweet French Bulldog with a Big Heart   Pepper is an adorable French Bulldog who was lovingly surrendered to Pet Rescue By Judy when her family could no longer care for her. She’s a gentle, affectionate girl who wins everyone over with her sweet personality and loving eyes.  Pepper has IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), a condition that affects her back. She is currently under the care of our wonderful chiropractor, Dr. Dana at The Animal Crackers, who is helping her stay comfortable and mobile.  She began treatment at the end of Oct and going weekly.  Pepper has signifigant improvement in her mobility already.   Personality  Pepper is as charming as they come! She enjoys being around people, soaking up attention, and getting gentle belly rubs. She’s friendly with both dogs and children, and she loves being part of the family.   Her Ideal Home  Pepper will need a special home that understands her condition and can provide her with a safe, calm environment. A home with hard floors due to her having issues sometimes with her bladder or bowels.   •A home without stairs is a must to protect her back. •Her family should be able to monitor her activity, making sure she doesn’t overdo playtime and gets the rest she needs. •Pepper would do best in a home with older, gentle children who understand that she can’t be chased or allowed to jump on and off furniture.   About IVDD   IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) is a common condition in French Bulldogs and other small breeds. It means the cushioning discs in the spine can become irritated or damaged, which can cause pain or stiffness. The good news is that with proper care—like chiropractic adjustments, rest, and avoiding jumping—dogs with IVDD can still live happy, comfortable lives. Pepper is already responding well to her treatments and is doing great in our care!   &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Care & Comfort   Pepper’s new family should be committed to her ongoing care, which may include chiropractic visits or other therapies to help manage her IVDD. With the right support, Pepper can continue to live a full, joyful life filled with love and snuggles.   This little sweetheart has so much love to give and deserves a forever home where she can thrive safely. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to Pepper, she’ll be your loyal companion and cuddle buddy for life. Story
Because his owner got evicted resulting from circumstances beyond her control and had to move in with one who already has dogs, Buddy sadly needs a good home. Buddy's a real lovey-dovey sweetheart who loves cuddling, watching squirrels thru the windows, he's loyal, protective, and loves walks! As he wants to be your top protector, Buddy does not like having other male dogs in the home. But he gets along great with the lady dogs! Buddy's only health issues are cosmetic only; a mis-formed ear and cherry eye (prolapsed tear ducts). They add character and uniqueness! Both uniquities cause him no discomfort or pain, vision or hearing issues. He was vaxxed about a year ago. Despite being full of energy, Buddy likes to sit calmly at the window, and also loves cuddling to a movie in bed or on the couch! He's great on a leash, and is a good potty-trained, quiet, in-home dog. Out in the yard Buddy is not a barker or a yapper!
