Story
History: Petey is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Personality: Gentle • Affectionate • Independent Special Moves: If we make eye contact, I’m coming to you, The Poop Dance ❤️ Why You’ll Fall in Love With Petey Petey is pure sweetness wrapped in a squishy face and equipped with the biggest, saddest, puppy-dog eyes you’ve ever seen. He is immediately affectionate of newcomers, and does not take long to adjust to new surroundings. Once introduced to his surroundings, he is extremely self-sufficient. Petey is not a big complainer and rarely makes a fuss. 🏡 Around the House Petey LOVES affection—gentle pets, silly dog-talk, goofy face rubs, and even a little roughhousing. He’s incredibly tolerant and takes love in all its forms. His motto: “All affection is good affection.” Petey is a lover. He is happy to see you. For someone looking for easy companionship, Petey is a phenomenal fit. Petey is quiet. Yes, he might quietly snore a bit, but his foster has yet to hear him bark. He is unbothered by city noises and sleeps solidly for naps and through the night. He communicates plenty through wiggly excitement, soulful looks, and spontaneous snort-symphonies. Loves good scratches at the base of his tail and neck. Petey needs a bit of regular grooming, especially around his adorable face folds. He’s extremely cooperative—even if he wiggle-worms his face away like “sir please, why must we do this?”—but never growls or gets grumpy. He is easy to bathe and does not put up a fight. He is prone to getting cold, so a sweater on cold fall/winter/spring days is a must! Petey wants to be near his people; he’s sweetly affectionate without being clingy. He’s content to lounge in his open kennel with a blanket. He does not chew household items (bonus!). But he does enjoy sticks, toys, and gently tugging on towels/ropes. Petey prefers to be the only dog in the household, where he can give his full love to his parents and receive all the love back. Petey is working on not marking indoors and has already made great progress! He seems to be less territorial when he is the only dog in the home, but he’s also totally comfortable wearing a belly band throughout the day. 🚶 Mobility & Style He’s a follower through and through. Wherever you lead, he will be closely in tow. Petey travels well. Once in the car, he's silent, peaceful, and calm. No pacing, no whining. 🧠 Personality Highlights Sweetest boy you’ll ever meet Loves friendly humans more than anything Never barks, never whines Snorts like a piggy Accepts infinite pets Easy traveler, easy bather, easy to love Independent Sensitive, gentle, tolerant Zero aggression, big sweetie 🏆 Who Should Adopt Petey? Someone who wants: ✔ A calm, snuggly companion ✔ A low-drama, high-charm dog ✔ A little guy who follows your lead ✔ A pet who loves attention but doesn’t demand constant cuddles ✔ A hilariously snorty sweetheart ✔ Someone willing to keep up with his breed-specific grooming If you're looking for a dog who is equal partsaffection, comedy, and gentle soul, Petey is your guy.

Story
History: Darla is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart with her smile and happy personality. She has her paws crossed to find her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi! I’m Darla and I started my life making babies and now that I’m retired I’m ready to be your snuggly little potato! I love spending time looking out the windows, laying by your feet as you cook or watch tv and playing with my stuffies! I am working on potty training and making progress. I’m relaxed when I see other dogs on walks, could probably live with other dogs or cats (although this hasn’t been tested since I’ve come to rescue). I am a fairly quiet pup- although I will alert you if someone is walking by just to let you know. I am comfortable sleeping in my crate at night and when you go to work and never complain when it’s time to go in. I am very gentle on a leash and would love a backyard, but definitely don’t need one. My shortie legs make stairs difficult so if you adopt me I require someone who can carry my petite 25lbs up and down stairs. My foster mom calls me Darling Darla and is super confident you’d love me to pieces!

History: Poppy FKA Fruitcake was recently returned to rescue due to no fault of her own. She is a unique girl who hopes to fid her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Poppy is a sweet girl who loves to snuggle next to her people and nap. She loves walks, especially with all the snow to frolic in! She knows walks are a time to go potty and hasn’t had accidents in the house. She keeps her crate dry and sleeps there at night. She leaves our cats alone; she is more concerned with being next to Mom, napping, or playing with her toys. She doesn't bark at other dogs or people on our walks - she shows mild interest, but not enough to run towards or away from anyone. It takes her a while to warm up to new people; she is suspicious of kids and will bark at them.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Scooter, a quirky, snuggly little goofball with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This French Bulldog mix is full of love, energy, and opinions. At about 30 pounds, he's the perfect size for lap cuddles—which just happen to be one of his favorite things in the world. Belly rubs? Yes, please. Ice cubes? Delicious. Chasing the hose? Pure joy. He’s got a playful streak a mile wide and adores games like tug-of-war, keep-away, and wrestling with trusted dog friends. But let’s be real—Scooter is not your average, easygoing pup. He’s had a rough go somewhere along the line, and he’s working hard to feel safe in the world. He has a few non-negotiables: he needs time to build trust, doesn’t like chaos, and absolutely does not want anyone messing with his ears unless you're in the inner circle. Men make him nervous, and he's not a fan of being left alone too long. Scooter is also very food-motivated—which can be both a training superpower and a trigger for resource guarding, especially around other dogs.  Scooter does best being fed in a separate area, if dogs reside in the home.   Scooter can and will lunge or bite if he feels overwhelmed or scared. He’s made huge progress in foster care, but he needs a calm, confident human who will continue that journey with patience, structure, and maybe even a good trainer in their corner. He’s not crate-trained (he finds crates stressful), and he’s not suited for homes with kids or lots of commotion. A fenced yard is a must—he needs space to run and decompress. Here’s the flip side: once you’re “his person,” Scooter will love you with his whole goofy heart. He’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. He’s smart and knows commands like sit, down, leave it, and “go potty.” He’s house-trained and walks well on leash. He loves toys, attention, and being part of the action—as long as it’s not too much action. Scooter isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who sees the beauty in helping a misunderstood dog bloom, Scooter might be your perfect project-turned-best-friend. He’ll make you laugh, keep you company, and love you fiercely. And that, friends, is a pretty special kind of magic. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Lucy Lou, the pint-sized powerhouse of play and personality! This French Bulldog mix is equal parts silly, snuggly, and smart—a total goofball with a heart of gold. She’s recently discovered the joy of toys and takes her job as “Chief Toy Relocator” very seriously, moving each one from the basket to her bed or the couch like a tiny interior designer with a plan. Lucy Lou is a certified cuddlebug and insists on sharing the big bed with her people—she’s a champion sleeper and the perfect bedtime buddy. Kennels? Not her thing. She much prefers a cozy dog bed (or let’s be real, your bed) and a few toys nearby. She’s nearly potty trained and does great when she’s not confined to the crate. When she’s excited, she might get a little mouthy while playing, so she’d do best with older or dog-savvy kids. She’s super sweet, loves all treats, enjoys her walks, and is quite proud of her harness fashion sense. Just make sure your yard or leash game is solid—Lucy Lou is part dog, part escape artist, and will absolutely inspect your fence for weaknesses. While she doesn’t need a fenced in yard, she must always be leashed.  She has done well with all pups she’s met, but would be great as an only dog, too! She loves to zoom, play, and soak up all the love you can give. Lucy Lou is loyal, hilarious, and endlessly lovable. Whoever adopts her is in for a lifetime of snorts, smiles, and snuggles. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Introducing Mousse — a delightfully squishy French Bulldog with a heart as sweet as his name! This handsome fellow is equal parts snuggle buddy, walking companion, and professional house observer (he likes to keep an eye on everything you’re doing… just in case you need help). Mousse is a friendly, happy guy who loves to be part of the family action. He’s affectionate, goofy, and asks for plenty of pets — and yes, he enjoys being picked up like the little loaf of love he is. When his humans come home, he puts on a full-blown welcome parade complete with wiggles, tail wags, and excited barks to make sure you know just how thrilled he is to see you. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and has solid manners — though he’s also smart enough to test if you really mean “leave it.” He enjoys walks (using a Frenchie-approved harness, of course), car rides, and has recently discovered the joy of toys now that he can breathe easier after surgery. His absolute favorite thing is spending time with his people — he just wants to be included in whatever you’re doing. Mousse gets along with some dogs, but he's a choosy fellow - not just anyone can be in his friend club! Due to his selectivity, Mousse would be best as an only dog where he can have all the lovins to himself.  He’s currently trying to sort out some itchy-skin mysteries, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. Because he’s a Frenchie, he’s heat sensitive, so air conditioning and comfy lounging spots are a must. This sweet, snorty little gentleman is apartment appropriate, easy to love, and ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever home. Keep his name — he’s quite proud of it — and get ready for endless affection, silly antics, and a loyal best friend who will never let you forget how special you are. This dog requires a Bulldog Application.  All applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. To learn more, visit  https://underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/bulldogs/ to fill out the Bulldog application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
History: Madeline is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Madeline is one of the most joyful fosters we’ve had. She literally smiles. I’ve had several boston terriers and she is a chunky monkey. She does great riding in the car and just sleeps on the seat next to me. She’s very eager to meet you and lick your hand but gets a little timid when you try to pet her. She’s warmed up A LOT and let’s me scratch her head and her butt (she loves that). She slept in the crate for the first few nights but has since earned her spot in bed. She’ll still go in her crate when we leave the house and she cries like a baby (literally) at first but then settles right down. She is VERY food motivated so she will be easy to train. She stands on her back legs to let you know she’s eager to learn. We’ve gotten good at waiting for a snack but sometimes food is all she can think about. If you approach her slowly she let’s you pick her up and carry her around. She’s learning that picking her up usually ends in something good like snuggles or a car ride. She loves the outdoors and runs around in our fenced yard. She hasn’t learned how to do stairs yet so I have to carry her to the grass and up the stairs in the house. We’re working on figuring out how to maneuver the stairs but so far nothing is sinking in. If I put her on the leash she fights it, but if I drop the leash she’ll walk by my side no problem. She is working on potty training but has a ways to go. She likes to mark which is hard for a foster home with dog smells everywhere. She’ll piddle on a pad and she corrects quickly if you give her a little noise. Her twosies are the stinkiest of anything I’ve ever seen 😊 Haha, but she does her best to do it outside or on the pad. She spins a lot and whimpers when she’s going to potty so if you keep an eye on her you’ll know when to take her out. It might take some time but I do think she’ll get there eventually. She does seem to have some issues with her back leg. The vet will have to give us more information but when her back leg is bothering her she’s still a pretty fast tripod. She runs around until it doesn’t hurt anymore which takes about 3 minutes. She’s never cried or winced in pain when it happens. She’s a great dog! She is learning all about belly rubs in the morning and sleeps at my office all day. She is great with my other dog (cavalier) and has even tried to play with her once. I think she’ll learn to like dog toys with time. I would keep her if my mission in life wasn’t to foster dogs. She’s definitely a keeper!

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Hi! My name is Marsha but my foster family usually just calls me “pretty pittie” because have you seen my gorgeous stripes and sweet heart nose? 🥰 I am young, athletic, smart, energetic, and loving. A human with a lot of those same qualities would be my perfect match! I am already crate trained, housetrained, and know some commands - I learn really fast because I love food and am super smart. I also love people! So much that sometimes I don’t understand why I can’t say hello to everyone I see and jump on them because I get SO excited! 😆 I live with two teenage boys and love them a lot. I am strong though and since I am still learning how to contain all that love, I might be too much for little kids that are smaller than me. I also live with 2 other dogs - both girls like me! It took a while for me to trust them but we hang out with each other now. I still don’t want to play with them though. I’d probably get along best with a boy dog who just wants to chill. Or I would be fine being your one and only pet! Here are things I like to do: 🏃‍♀️ I am an honorary member of my mom’s run club! I’d love to be your running buddy. Hike - I am always up for an adventure! Walk - I like to go for walks every day to check out the neighborhood 🧩- I like doing puzzles to keep my 🧠 busy Learn! I really like to learn new tricks and commands - I would be the valedictorian of any class! Curling up in front of the fire and taking naps Here are things I need to work on: Loose leash walking Staying calm in exciting situations - like passing by people or 🐕 on a walk or seeing a 🐿️ !! My perfect pet parent would be: Active and willing to exercise me every day Dedicated to training me and helping me learn how to contain all my excitement and strength in a constructive way Experienced working with energetic dogs like me or willing to partner with a trainer to learn how Willing to invest in my training - I would be a great candidate for a Board and Train program to set me up for success! I am so sweet and have so much potential to be a wonderful, loyal companion. I just need to find someone who loves me and appreciates me 😊 Could that be you?

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Meet Porter! Porter is a big 'ol lover recently welcomed from our "Out of the Cold" effort in North Dakota. He's a happy and sweet boy ready for a family of his own! Porter is a well behaved dog all around. He's friendly with all people and dogs. Cats are an unknown for him. He's enjoying being where I am, and follows me around the house. He curls up for a long hard nap, with lots of grunts and snores in typical bulldog fashion. He likes to bury his head under my arm or in the blanket, and has the best leg kick out "sploot". He can get a case of the zoomies, so you'll need to be aware of his big stocky size:) Porter is doing really well in the home. He's good in his kennel after going in hesitantly for a treat. He is seemingly fully potty trained with regular let outs. Porter has been good in the car and on leash. Though he is strong, I think he'd learn proper leash walking quickly with a good leader. He does know "sit", and will follow your lead for a treat. We're having a great time watching Porter's personality emerge as he settles in with us, and know he will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family!
