Meet Gumbo! Breed: German Pinscher MixGender: MaleAge: AdultSize: Medium (31 lbs)Good with: Other dogs, people who appreciate playful energy This boy is PLAYFUL—like, capital letters, exclamation point, underline-it-twice playful! Gumbo is happy-go-lucky and sweet, and he loves to play with toys in the yard with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you smile just watching him. He's got that infectious joy that reminds you why dogs are so amazing. Gumbo gets along well with his playgroup and has a great time romping around with his friends. But here's his absolute favorite activity: hiding in holes that his friends have dug in the play yard! While other dogs are running around playing chase, Gumbo has discovered the simple pleasure of claiming a freshly dug hole and settling in for a dirt nap. He loves a nap in the cool dirt—it's his version of a spa day. At 31 pounds, Gumbo is the perfect medium size—substantial enough to be a real adventure buddy but manageable enough for most living situations. He's playful, social, and has delightfully quirky habits that make him endlessly entertaining. Plus, fair warning: if you have a yard, Gumbo might develop a passion for supervising (or participating in) any digging activities! If you're looking for a playful, happy companion who gets along great with other dogs and has adorable quirks like napping in dirt holes, Gumbo is ready to bring joy, laughter, and maybe a little extra dirt into your life! Ready to welcome Gumbo into your life? Contact us to meet this wonderful boy! Disclaimer: The information in this profile reflects observations made while this dog has been in our shelter environment. We strive to describe each dog as accurately as possible; however, behavior and needs may change once the dog is in a new home, routine, or environment. Our dogs are not freeroaming in homes. When we note that a dog is "potty trained," this refers to reliable crate training, not confirmed freeroam house training. Accidents may occur during the transition to a new home, and additional training should be expected. All dogs are examined by our veterinarian, are spayed or neutered if old enough, and are up to date on ageappropriate vaccinations at the time of adoption. We share all known medical information, but we cannot guarantee future health or rule out underlying conditions. ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.happyfacespetranch.org Once your application has been approved, a representative will be in touch to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog based on the dog's individual needs. ##2460309##

Story
Toby is a 7-month-old, 26-pound chiweenie-German pinscher pup with adorable ears. Toby's story began with heartbreak. At just 4 months old, Toby was abandoned at a high-kill shelter alongside his mom. While his mom was quickly adopted, Toby was left behind, scared and alone in a noisy shelter environment. Thankfully, a loving foster stepped in and gave him the chance he deserved. When Toby first arrived in foster care, he was terrified of the outside world. Everyday sounds and unfamiliar surroundings overwhelmed him, and even going outdoors was frightening. But Toby found comfort in his foster sisters. By watching them confidently explore, play, and enjoy life, he slowly began to follow their lead. Today, Toby happily goes outside on leash, loves playing with his foster sisters, and enjoys stretching out in the sunshine for a relaxing afternoon sunbath. Toby is shy when meeting new people and needs time to decompress in new environments. Once he feels safe, however, he blossoms into a loyal little companion who will quietly follow you everywhere. He is calm, gentle, incredibly sweet, and completely non-confrontational. He does not resource guard and has wonderful manners around other animals. Toby currently lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them. He absolutely thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance and confidence. Because of this, a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. Toby trusts dogs more than humans, and having a canine role model helps him continue building confidence and learning that the world is a safe place. He is also a very smart puppy and a quick learner who continues to make progress every day. While he is fine around children, we feel Toby would do best in a quieter home without young kids. He spends a lot of energy observing his surroundings and making sure everything is okay, so a calm environment will help him relax and continue gaining confidence. After everything he has been through, it's understandable that Toby is cautious. But for the family willing to give him patience, kindness, and time, Toby will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a bond that is truly special. Toby has already come so far. Now he just needs a forever family to help him write the next chapter of his story. If you have a friendly dog looking for a best friend, and a quiet home where Toby can continue to flourish, this sweet little survivor may be the perfect addition to your family. Toby is fully vaccinated, neutered and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. To meet this amazing pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Toby's adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, and harness. Transport fees out of Houston can range from $150 - $350 depending on destination. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
