HI, I AM TRUDY.  I COULD BE THE BEST PRESENT YOU WILL EVER GET AND YOU COULD BE THE BEST PRESENT I WILL EVER GET BY GIVING ME A PERMANENT FOREVER HOME. I AM 1/2 TO 3/4 GERMAN SHEPHERD AND 8 MONTHS OLD. I HAVE HAD ALL MY SHOTS AND FIXED AND READY TO GO FOR YOU. MY FOSTER PARENTS LOVE ME AND I HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS. WHEN I WAS LITTLE SOMEONE WAS NOT GOOD TO ME AND I AM BLIND IN ONE EYE. SO I AM A SPECIAL NEEDS DOG, YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH ME. I NEED A WELL FENCED YARD AND LOTS OF LOVE AND ATTENTION. I LOVE EVERYONE AND EVERYBODY. GIVE ME A GOOD HOME AND I WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND. THANKS. TRUDY Trudy is a special pup.  She is very friendly and loving and she likes for you to sit down so she can crawl in your lap.  She wants to play with her foster siblings but they aren't really interested.   We don't know Trudy's background, but she has some slight physical limitations.  She can be walked on a harness but not with a collar.  She is sensitive to anesthesia and she is blind in one eye so may startle easy when approached from that side.  Other than that, Trudy is just a loving pup who needs a furever home.        May 18, 2024, 11:33 pm

She has been good with a female dog her size and a small male dog, but she is way too interested in bothering kitties.   Bitsy was in a foster home with kids and is learning not to jump on them.  She loves to play fetch but she also loves to cuddle.  Bitsy is great in the house and can stay uncrated while you're not home....UNLESS.....something yummy is left unsupervised on the counter. Then she might give in to temptation and help herself.  I mean if you leave it there, it must be for her, right?  May 18, 2024, 11:33 pm

Stacey came to us from an area shelter. She is one of many that were heartworm positive.  She has been fully vetted and treated for heartworms and is now in a foster home teaching us more about her. Stacey is friendly with other dogs and she loves to go for walks.  She will work for food and is building her confidence. Here is an update from  her foster mom: Stacey, when she arrived in late November to  her foster home, she was quite a nervous little girl. She is a small female German Shepherd rescued from Selma, AL. She has made remarkable improvement from that first day. At first, she was staying in an indoor/outdoor kennels with other dogs and going on walks twice a day. I tried several different approaches but with little change in behavior except when her food is used as reward.  Her behavior has never been aggressive, just afraid of new things but as I have learned she will push through with a little help from you and the food, she has very high food drive.  The first week of January we started seeing changes in her behavior towards us and her surroundings. She is now staying around us and our 5 dogs daily and sleeping inside in an enclosed kennel.  We have noticed she does better when things are calm, not loud, and boisterous. She likes tight places to hide in like under tables, behind couches and under chairs. She went camping with us and did great with my shepherd and pitbull mix in close quarters.  She also does not use the restroom in her smaller kennel or house since we started training her inside.    She is smart and very curious about the world around her, and we continue to introduce her to new things. She has beautiful colors and compares to my shepherd she is on the small side. She also is drawn to men.  Every day she gets braver to explore new things. We are starting to see her learning to play with other dogs. I believe she would make someone a great companion because she loves her person and wants to be with them.   May 18, 2024, 11:33 pm

Rubin is a young adult male. If you are a hermit who lives at the lake, Rubin might be the dog for you.  He loves to play in the water and he is very sweet but he is very anxious around new people and changes in his routine or environment.  He does not do well in a car.   He is very sweet and smart.  Rubin will need continued exposure to new things and socialization to keep him outgoing and not anxious or scared.  He does well with other dogs, he likes to play with them but sometimes he will test his canine friends.  He is probably not good with cats. Update 2/1/24.  Rubin is doing better around new people.  He has also been out in the yard with small dogs as well as the big dogs.  He gets excited with the little ones but they put him in his place and he leaves them alone.  He generally doesn't get into anything when loose in the house unless it's yummy left overs, then he might be tempted.  He is doing better about getting in the car.  Once he will get in the car, we will work on road trips.  It's a slow process but it is rewarding to see him work through some of his anxiety. He truly is a people dog.  He will also let you know if one of the other dogs needs to go out.  If they bark, he will bark louder to let you know.  Rubin is a comical dog, if you don't have a sense of humor and patience, he is not the dog for you.   Rubin is working hard to overcome his nerves.    May 18, 2024, 11:33 pm

Sasha 3 is a lively, friendly girl.  She came to us still very thin despite having been in a shelter and getting fed regular meals for a few weeks.  She is always willing to eat snacks but is not food aggressive with people.  Sasha likes to ride in the car. Sasha may be bossy at first around other dogs but will probably settle down and be fine.  She shows great interest in fast moving little dogs.  She could possibly be trained not to chase them, but she might be better off in a home with no small dogs or cats. She will sleep in a crate but she has tried to pull the crate door open so she would probably want to spend more time out of the crate.  She is fairly new to the rescue so she is still teaching us about herself.
