All of our dogs are housed in private homes, we do not have a store or a shelter.  We do not show dogs to interested parties until they have an approved adoption application.  If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.helpingshepherdsofeverycolor.com/adoption-application  You may also find us on facebook:  Helping Shepherds of Every Color Rescue  Update 12/23  Nani has blossomed in foster care and she has turned into a friendly, happy girl.  It's amazing what a little love and TLC will do.  She will need some formal training but that will help her bond with her new family.  Nani is very silly and tries very hard to play with the little dog in her foster home. Nani is a very sweet girl. She is very nervous and timid right now.  Nani would do best with a calm, confident dog companion.  She is just under a year old.  She is very sweet, just very scared.  Nani may not be a good farm dog, she was turned into a shelter because she killed some chickens.  In her defense she was very underweight and very hungry. You will need a very good vacuum cleaner, she sheds like crazy.  May 4, 2025, 4:08 pm

Rubin is a young adult male. If you are a hermit who lives at the lake, Rubin might be the dog for you.  He loves to play in the water and he is very sweet but he is very anxious around new people and changes in his routine or environment.  He does not do well in a car.   He is very sweet and smart.  Rubin will need continued exposure to new things and socialization to keep him outgoing and not anxious or scared.  He does well with other dogs, he likes to play with them but sometimes he will test his canine friends.  He is probably not good with cats. Update 2/1/24.  Rubin is doing better around new people.  He has also been out in the yard with small dogs as well as the big dogs.  He gets excited with the little ones but they put him in his place and he leaves them alone.  He generally doesn't get into anything when loose in the house unless it's yummy left overs, then he might be tempted.  He is doing better about getting in the car.  Once he will get in the car, we will work on road trips.  It's a slow process but it is rewarding to see him work through some of his anxiety. He truly is a people dog.  He will also let you know if one of the other dogs needs to go out.  If they bark, he will bark louder to let you know.  Rubin is a comical dog, if you don't have a sense of humor and patience, he is not the dog for you.   Rubin is working hard to overcome his nerves.    October 27, 2024, 12:57 pm

If Panda had a theme song it would be 'Party All The Time' by Eddie Murphy.  He is fun loving and playful. He met a mean kitty and she scratched him.  All he wanted to do was say hello.  Panda would probably be fine with kids, he just needs to be taught not to jump on them.  His favorite pastime is opening boxes, imagine how much fun he would have at your house on Christmas!   He just wants to have fun and be loved, but sometimes he gets overexcited and jumps up on you and wraps his front legs around you.   Panda has a great sense of smell, prepare to be 'frisked and sniffed' if you wear new clothing or pet another dog.December 9, 2025, 12:39 pm

Story
Reom is a 5-year-old male King German Shepherd who has already been neutered.  He is an owner turn in because he was too rough with the children in his family.  Reom has the classic black and tan coat of a German Shepherd; and he weighs 96 pounds so he is an extra large adult dog.  Reom is extremely smart and would require an experienced handler as his adopter.  He is very strong when walking on his leash; but, he is very well behaved.  Reom is house trained and leash trained.  Due to his large size he should not be in a home with small or young children.  If you have another dog--you would need to schedule a meet and greet with your dog.  Reom does not get along with all dogs.  This is a spectacular dog who will need an adopter who is familiar with the breed; and understand that Reom will need lots of love, a big fenced yard, and lots of opportunities for exercise.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  December 11, 2025, 7:40 pm

Story
Katie is between 2-3 yrs old, utd on shots, spayed, very loving and affectionate, doesn't wander off, stays in the yard, great watch dog, protective but not over protective. She loves children and other dogs and cats. She was adopted by my daughter and son in law when she came to us earlier this year. The previous owners split up and so they rehomed her. She needs a forever loving home with a big yard and plenty of affection and attention. We take in cat's and dogs, keep them for a bit to get to know them and rehabilitate if needed. We also have another dog who needs his forever home as well. We are willing to travel and meet up depending on your location.
