Story
Ally is a female Lab/German Shepherd mix born about 11/2010. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She gets along great with other dogs, but has never been around cats so we don't know how she would do with them. She is a bit shy at first so she needs a home without children. Ally would love a home to call her own , can you be that home?

Story
Sex: Male (Neutered) Age: approx. 5 months Heartworm: Too young to test (on prevention) Adoption Fee: $500 Introducing Elijah! He’s around 5 months old, and he’s simply awesome. After being hit by a car on the streets of NOLA, we got him the surgery he needed. He’s now healed up and ready for adoption. The compound fracture in his leg is now healed and thanks to surgery by super-star vet Dr. Kristen, he will have normal use of his leg, and he's expected to have healthy growth and full mobility.   He’s a super-smart little people-pleaser. He needs a job — and training. He has been with an experienced foster home teaching him house manners and starting his foundation for basic obedience.  He plays hard with other dogs--that means rough-and-tumble, rambunctiousness.  ALL GSD puppies require a lot of TIME and TRAINING -- he's at the beginning of his training journey, not the end.  Anyone adopting a puppy needs to embrace the fact that puppies chew stuff up--your favorite shoes, expensive purse, antique rug, etc. are all fair game. They get into stuff and make messes. They’re mouthy, and they’re often frustrating little stinkers for a year or more, and you eventually will get the dog you deserve, based on the time and effort you put into training them.  The smarter they are, the more demanding they are of owners.  They also have high exercise needs.  That’s why we prefer breed experience and a trainer reference for puppy adopters (and we generally don’t place them in homes with small kids because of the mouthiness).  If you’re a up for the challenge of a fabulous puppy AND think you could challenge his brain power with lots of training games, please fill out an app on our website of following the link below.    A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to adopt Elijah. If you are interested in adopting Elijah, please fill out an adoption application. W e usually get quite a few apps for any puppy that passes through the rescue, so we look for the best possible match. All adoptions are approved solely at the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.  We look for GREAT owners for GREAT dogs.   September 23, 2023, 7:02 pm

Story
WOW! Don't miss out on this fella! No puppy pains here! This 1 year old boy is HOUSETRAINED, knows basic commands (sit, stay, get in your bed, lay down, and we are working on shake!), crate trained, does great in the car, doesn't chew or destroy furniture, is a champ at bath time, does a good job at the vet... what more could you want?! Then add all of this and you've found a wonderful friend: Tony is well behaved in the house, he's fun to be around, he can be left alone and trusted while youre gone, he's affectionate, sweet, smart, adorable, and obedient. Tony is the BEST! About this baby: Tony is SO CUDDLY and BEAUTIFUL! And those eyes--they're like a tiger! I know it doesn't necessarily look like it in pictures, but I cannot describe how SOFT and FLUFFY this boy's coat is... It's like a little cloud of heaven even though he is a short-haired dog. He is so cuddly that it is almost therapeutic to be around this sweet guy. This big boy loves to give kisses and I think he would simply smother you with love if he could. Extremely affectionate, this boy is definitely a people-oriented dog, though he loves to be around other dogs too. He is an extremely happy dog, always excited to see and greet you! And, just FYI, there is NOTHING cuter than seeing this boy with his toys--he constantly walks around with his favorites and wants you to chase him. This big boy is super calm inside, and when he is outside LOVES to swim if there is a pool or a pond around! He is definitely a water puppy! This big guy also does a good job of sleeping by your bed, waiting patiently until morning. And he is not a "barky" dog. About this baby's History: He was found in a subdivision, abandoned, in Texas. Everyone that met him loved him and he was taken in by a number of families while they searched for his owners, until finally he was taken on by the EKC Rescue. Tony has spent the last month in foster care, ensuring he has a clean bill of health, and learning as much as we can about him so we can place him in the perfect home! About this baby's ideal home: This fella is great with other dogs. He does well with both smaller and larger breeds. But when introducing him to new dogs at home, its important to do the process slowly as he has given some warning growls to some dogs before. He is strongly expected to do well with cats but he has never officially been around one. It is a possibility that he will jump on smaller children, so plan to put in some training if you have young ones. BUT I believe he will do very well with children invading his space (as they can often do) like pulling or tugging on him. Tony can get a little excited whenever voices are raised or whenever he sees his humans, so he would ideally have a calm mom or dad that can be patient and guide him in the right direction until he calms down. Because of this angel's size, he would do perfect with a family that wouldn't mind have a big beautiful boy running around...but it is definitely something to consider if you have elderly or very young children. Though he has only ever jumped up on someone once, he may need some more guidance in that area. He really is so sweet, calm, quiet whenever he is inside that you forget he's not a little dog! About this baby's health: This angel is heartworm NEGATIVE. Tony is neutered, up to date on shots, free of all intestinal parasites, and currently taking preventive heartworm and flea and tick. He is ready to go!
