Story
This is Chief. She was abandoned at our home an does not come from a good place. I dont know if she responds good with kids but with our other dogs she is good but idk about other dogs that she hasnt seen. She does love attention and barks a lot. Still trying to grow trust with her but she needs someone who’s willing and has the time to love her and get to know her. She is kennel trained but with our cats we havent been able to let her roam the house. Unknown if she doesn’t like cats but she barks at them in her kennel so not sure if I wanna find out. She loves walks and runs and loves to be outside. I do think she could be good with kids but have not tried.

Story
Hi there! I’m Digby — tall, dark, and handsome… and yes, I know it. But I promise there’s much more to me than my striking good looks. I’m a very intelligent, regal guy with a heart that’s absolutely devoted to my people. If I had my way, I’d spend every single day right by your side. I’m affectionate, cuddly, and despite my size, I fully believe I’m a lap dog. I love other dogs, enjoy playtime, and like staying both mentally and physically active. That said, I’m also perfectly happy just relaxing as long as you’re nearby. I can be a little vocal when there’s lots of commotion, so I’d do best in a home with kids over 12 who understand I don’t love a ton of chaos. I’ll be honest… being left alone makes me anxious. I worry you might not come back, but I’m working on it and just need someone patient and understanding who can help me feel safe and secure. The kind folks at Homeward recently discovered I’m heartworm positive, and I’ll need treatment soon, which means strict kennel rest for a while. Don’t worry, though, Homeward is covering the cost of my treatment. I’d love nothing more than to heal in a forever home (or even a foster home) where I can soak up love and comfort. I promise to be a very good boy and love you big forever. With love & loyalty, Digby

She enjoys soaking up the sun on the deck. Her giant frog is her favorite toy.  Pippi  likes to go for walks but she is a strong puller. She is pretty lazy otherwise, spending her days laying around and looking out the window. She loves going on car rides. Pippi is up to the challenge of playing with her puzzle toy and especially likes when she solves the puzzle and finds the hidden treats.. She is so smart and such a sweet dog. She just doesn’t like other dogs and tends to be protective of her person. Pippi would make a great companion for someone with no other pets or young kids.  12/9/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: Princess Pippi is still looking for her kingdom to reign over, have you got some subjects in your realm for this regal lady? She is gentle and kind and large but slow and confident. Pippi loves scratches and snuggles and playing ball. This ol gal needs a calm home she can monitor and ensure the safety of its residents.  9/12/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: Pippi is such an easy dog at the shelter, and I imagine that translates to being an easy to care for dog in her home. Pippi is such a nice gentle dog, she walks like an angel, is potty trained, and generally doesn't cause a ruckus in her kennel. Being calm in the shelter environment isn't always the easiest and Pippi has done very well keeping her cool. It is heartbreaking to see her in the shelter environment for so long but at least she is doing well. Pippi does love a game of fetch and a good walk but she also has no issue taking princess naps throughout the day.   While Pippi isn't a good candidate to live with other dogs (or pets) since she will resource guard her favorite person from other animals, she can be friendly with dogs in a daycare environment. Her out of home dog socialization is good, which is good for encounters expected or otherwise. As we have needed shelter space Pippi goes to Fetchers where she gets socializing via doggy daycare and has a very fun time doing so. Pippi would be a great companion looking for her spot to lounge. She hopes it is with you  7/19/2024 Foster Feedback: Pippi is the sweetest angel girl there is! She seemed very comfortable with me right away . Pippi loves to play ball, looking out the window, going for walks and chewing on her chew toy! Pippi is 100% potty trained and never had an accident while in my home. I did not put her in a kennel ever because she didn't seem interested in anything she wasn’t supposed to have; she didn't try to get into the garage or onto the counter! She is the sweetest girl and loves to give kisses, getting head rubs, scratches right above her tail and sleeping next to you! She deserves the best home! 5/11/2024 Foster Feedback:  Pippi has settled in quite well and is looking to be the Queen in someone's house. Her favorite things include running around the yard chasing her jolly ball, chewing on bones, sleeping next to her favorite people, playing tug of war, and carrying around her stuffed toys. She also loves going on walks around the neighborhood and the park.  Pippi knows the following commands: Sit, Stay, Lay down, Shake, High five, Leave it, Come, and Kennel. She is kennel trained, has fantastic leash manners, and is potty trained. Pippi will let you know when she needs to go outside by standing next to the door until you let her out.    At the moment, she wants to be the queen of the castle, so she will bark at dogs or strangers walking past the house. She will also bark at dogs walking too close to her. We have been working on this with her.   Pippi would make a lovely addition to any family looking for a laid back, but fun loving "bear" in their house! 4/12/2019 Volunteer Feedback: Pippi is a very happy pup! She’s always smiling and investigating new places with her sniffer. She loves squeaky toys and belly scratches. Her back foot kicks when you find the right spot! Pippi does really well on walks and would love a family that would enjoy her cuddles and kisses. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org March 10, 2026, 9:54 pm
