Story
Hiya! My name is SOL (and yes, my ears are adorable and kinda floppy) and here is some info about me:
PHYSICAL INFO:
Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer mix (best guess!)
Age: 5 years old approx.
Gender: Female
Weight: 42 lbs (19 kg)
Current Location: Guadalajara, Mexico
RESCUE STORY – I was born into a bit of a hoarding situation where an old, kind man was trying to take care of sooo many homeless dogs. I lived with many other dogs, big and small. I was one of many mouths to feed and I wasn't taken care of very good for the first few years of my life. I'm so grateful wonderful hoomans got me out of there and now I have had the best care ever. I am well sociailized and would love to have a family all to myself.
TEMPERAMENT – I am very sweet and calm. I have bursts of playfulness but I'm usually pretty low key. I am a very trustful soul and love socializing with other pups. I reeeeally like cuddling on the couch and climbing into beds where I can lay beside other pups. But I also like to be alone in my bed with my favourite toy. I get happy when I hear a happy voice and get tasty treats! I have shown no resource guarding because I now have so many new toys and treats! I'm a thankful lady :)
ENERGY LEVEL – Moderate. I am learning how to enjoy going for walks and playing in the grass with my fellow doggies at the shelter. I'm not a big barker- usually only when I'm playing outside. And I definitely love playing with stuffed animals!
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Unknown. I’m described as exceptionally affectionate, gentle, and friendly with people, but we do not currently have video of me interacting with children, so WCP cannot officially confirm how I am with kids.
If an applicant has children, we can request a "kid test" in Mexico.
Same with all dogs, I need to have an adult advocate for my space and make sure I'm supervised around children.
Dogs – Yes! I’m very friendly and respectful with other dogs. I enjoy playing with my canine friends and am gentle. I’m happy to share toys, food, beds, and space with other dogs.
Cats – Unknown. A cat lives here at my shelter and I am curious, but I know it's not a dog. I'm not sure what this cat is all about!
PREY DRIVE – Unknown. I don't know how I will react around squirrels, rabbits, etc., so my adopter should be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – I'm ok, see me here. And here! I trot sometimes. It's just that for the first 5 years of my life I was never taken out for a walk on a leash. I'm getting to know my leash and can keep up with proper encouragement and motivation.
House trained – Work in progress. I am pretty good at only going while I'm outside in the yard.
Adaptability – I’m a pretty easy going pup and am super calm when I go on car rides!
Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.
HEALTH/PHYSICAL NOTES:
I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of my vaccines and medical records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
I am currently sporting a shorter haircut, but my beautiful coat will grow back!
NOTES:
WCP can never guarantee whether a dog will shed or be hypoallergenic.
I will likely require regular grooming, as my coat grows quite long.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
