Story
Honey is a four year-old German shorthaired pointer that needs a home that can give her more of what she needs. She needs a family that can give her the opportunities that she needs to expend her energy and utilize her hunting instincts. She is a very loving dog toward her people, but she does not like most other dogs. She will initially attempt to chase a cat, but responds well to redirection. Off leash, Honey will run unchecked until she’s exhausted, but put a training collar on her and she’ll follow you wherever you go. She is crate trained, potty trained and loves attention.

Story
*** If you are interested in learning more about or adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application here: https://www.gatewayareahumanesociety.com/application-to-adopt *** Penny found herself bouncing from stray, to shelter, to foster and then to her own home but was returned due to no fault of her own. Penny was doing well but some things changed in her home environment that didn’t quite work for her. In her recent home she was potty trained and started to open up so much more. She’s a timid girl that needs a quiet chill home. We have no history of the cause of her anxiety as she was a stray but she is not a big fan of constant loud noise. Due to her history of being frightened by loud noises she will need a secure fenced yard and someone committed to keeping her leashed when out for walks. She absolutely loves her crate and feels safest having a spot to call her own. She is calm and doesn’t make a big fuss. This girl cannot go a day without her chew toys. Having something that is hers to keep in her safe space helps out a great deal. Penny gets along well with most other dogs and we feel that a home with one single confident but not overbearing fur sibling or just herself would be best. She thrives at playtime with all of her pals at the shelter, and she has many! Watching them run and roam has boosted her confidence in learning to be a dog and has really helped her blossom. A patient understanding home to help her continue to gain/grow her confidence and show her lots of love is what this sweet girl is looking for. She is such a great dog with so much love to give to the person who will treat her as their whole world. If you think this quiet, easy going, gentle gal is a perfect fit for you then please fill out an application today. Adoption Fee: $200 The adoption fee includes your pet's: - Spay/Neuter - Annual Vaccines - Rabies - Microchipping NOTE: A completed application is required for all adoptions and prior to any visitations. Completing this application does not guarantee approval, nor does it obligate you to adopt if approved. All visits and adoptions are by appointment only. We do our best to ensure that the adoptable animals are in the best health possible, but you will need to take your pet to your regular vet to ensure complete health. Keep in mind that any pet is a lifelong commitment. When considering adoption, remember what life is like with work, school, hobbies, or kid's activities.
